“Pub on the Downs is going Up”
Reviewed December 7, 2012

I loved the ambience, the food, the warmth of the staff. What a lovely place. Real old-fashioned pub and the menu is varied and food excellent. Absolutely love going here.

“Loved it - great food and presentation, cozy but modern atmosphere.”
Reviewed December 1, 2012

As well as a good range of pizzas and pastas there is a wide choice on the menu. You can eat in the restaurant or in the pub and the food was delicious, service good and prices average. Whilst the staff were helpful and polite, there was o flexibility with having a dessert form the set menu with a main from the usual menu which was irritating but did not spoil an excellent meal. Loads of parking spaces and a roast on Sundays which I will go back to try. Was busy even on a Wednesday lunch time.

“Just the job for a canter”
Reviewed November 20, 2012

Taken here by friends who have just moved to Epsom. What a pleasure. Good vibes when we walked in, friendly faces to greet us, good to see scrubbed down tables to eat on. The beer was excellent and the menu very enticing. The quality of the food did not disapoint it was well presented and very enjoyable. A good watering place after a day at the races.

“Best all-round pub in Epsom”
Reviewed November 2, 2012

I'm not sure why this pub isn't rated much, much higher - at the time of writing, it was rated a ridiculously lowly #26 of 42 pubs/restaurants in Epsom. The Derby Arms is the best all-round pub in Epsom. The location on top of the Downs next to the Queen's Stand is excellent. The range of beers and lagers is solid and well kept. The staff are friendly and helpful. The bar area is comfortable and family friendly and the dining area is well spaced. The food is consistently excellent and what I particularly like is that they make their bread on site - a nice touch. It's great in the summer with a large beer garden and cosy in the winter with two large fireplaces. I agree with other reviewers that the prices are not cheap, but unfortunately pints over £4 seems to be the norm all over the South-East now. Maybe I'm a bit biased because this is my local, but if in the area, definitely give this pub a try!
