“A great local cafe/ restaurant”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2013

This cafe has gone from strength to strength. During the day it serves very good coffee and snacks. There are breakfast and lunch menus every day except Sunday and Monday. Every lunch time there is an offering of pasta or pizza and a soft-drink for £5.50 which seems a good bargain. Both are very good. Also available at lunch-time are other pasta and pizza dishes, panini etc.

On Friday and Saturday evenings it becomes a restaurant offering salads, pasta and pizza as well as a variety of starters. The premises aren't licensed, but you can bring your own wine (no corkage charge). There is an off-licence across the road.

All the food is freshly prepared to order by the chef/ proprietor and is both delicious and good value.

The serving staff are a bonus: currently one charming Russian-speaking girl and and 2 lively Italian girls covering the opening hours.

It's small so you may want to book in the evening.

“Delicious and reasonably priced”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 24, 2012

Open as a restaurant on Friday and Saturday evenings only. Menu of a few good starters, five or six pasta mains and various pizza. Excellent ingredients and very tasty. Offered decent value around £6 for a starter and £12 for a main, bring your own wine with no corkage charge. Nice little local place for a decent unpretentious Italian meal with a few friends - Recommended. Limited seating so wise to book.

“The many faces of l'Affamato”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 16, 2012

This cafe come bistro has many different faces, in the morning it is full of mums (and the occasional Dad) taking 10 minutes down time to have a delicious Italian coffee. I used the place as a stop off myself whilst on paternity leave and the service was always excellent. The lunch trade is typically locals taking a chance to grab a panini or pizza for lunch. For me, the secret surprise of this place was when I took the family for dinner one Saturday evening, the cafe becomes a bring your own restaurant and I must say the food was delicious, we had pan fried king prawns as a starter and they were amazing, the kids had child sized pizzas and these were also excellent. We chose a selection of dishes for the main course and they all tasted authentically Italian. We were able to splash out on a really good wine and take it with us. Our waitress was attentive, welcoming and left us feeling as though we had just been to an Italian Bistro in Umbria! Beats any Zizzi or Pizza Express chain hands down.
