Amera Rani has been our favourite Indian restaurant since we first got a takeaway leaflet posted through our door about 15 months ago. The takeaway was so good that we had to go and try the restaurant and we've been going back ever since. The restaurant is fairly small - @ 40-50 seats with very pleasing decor. The staff are always exceptionally professional and helpful while being very friendly and welcoming. Don't expect to see the choices you normally find on the average Indian menu. At Amera Rani you can feast on unusual dishes such as Duck Chettinad or Lobster Balchao. There are adequate options to cater for vegetarians and special diets and as everything is freshly cooked, the chef can often adapt the dishes to meet your requirements. Whatever you choose, presentation is top rate. Even better, the prices are very reasonable - particularly if you go on a Wednesday night.

Amera Rani definitely deserves its rating as Number One in Croydon. The only thing is, it's so popular now that you have to book to guarantee a seat!

Went there after seeing reviews on here. Ouside very unprepossessing but great atmosphere inside (packed on a Wednesday - check their special offer!). Service and welcome better than the Khyber but the food only ok and not as good quality in our book. Much cheaper though and great value for money - will be back and will book next time.

Different from your average curry houses - the food was really special and tasted as if had been individually prepared. Will revist for their forthcoming Bhiriani festival in October

This is a family favourite when it comes to a celebration meal. A great selection of dishes all really well prepared and a welcoming drink of water melon and mint that's worth the visit alone.
