We went to Alberts Table for a family party and had a wonderful evening.

We had the 5 course tasting menu which at £45 was very good value and which the restaurant was more than happy to splice with the vegetarian version to deal with inividual problems. The food was excellent and the staff were very pleasant and friendly. We ordered the wines separately. The wine list is not long but is interesting and the wines we tried had obviously been carefully chosen by the restaurant).

So all in all a very good evening and the restaurant is much much better than its location would suggest.

Tips:-

- On the tasting menu they only serve the main beef option medium rare (and very good it is) but they thoughtfully provide an alternative
- the english cheese board is fantastic
- There is very handy car park (empty in the evenings) about 50 yards North of the restaurant if you can persuade a member of your party not to drink
- Very charming to 91 year old aunties

We went for lunch. We were greeted cordially and given a table with immaculate, crisp white linen tablecloth and serviettes, sparkling cutlery, glassware and crockery. The menu with so many fine choices was £19.50 for 2 courses or £24 for 3 courses. All the dishes were beautifully presented. We started with duck liver parfait and scallops. Both chose the 28 day aged beef as main course. One chose blackberry custard tart as dessert.

The service was attentive and they discreetly checked that we were satisfied with our meal - which we were! We were neither rushed nor was the service slow. Including a good bottle of wine and 12.5% service charge the bill came to £93. Altogether a most pleasurable lunch.

The food and service were absolutely excellent here, wine was really nice and the waiting staff were good with their recommendations. Tables were a little close to each other.

OK, so we've only been here twice, but both times the service and the food were of the highest quality, both showing attention to detail, and certainly excellent value for money.

first of all the service was excellent, and the menu is a set price so not unreasonable. Starter was very good, but both felt the main course was a bit of a let down. beef was slightly dry and sweetbreads were chewy and bland, sounded better on the menu than it was in reality. but good wine list and although not cheap we felt we got value for money with a lovely beaujolais.
