Reading some previous reviews there are a few comments about the quality of the rooms, I must say that mine was relatively nicely decorated and clean. The hotel itself is quite nice, set in an old house in some nice grounds. I didn't get the chance to try the gym or spa.
The biggest gripe was the patchy service experience. The check in staff were pleasant although one seemed to be more interested in ignoring me and chatting on the phone and the staff working in and out of the conference rooms were brilliantly helpful. Things totally broke down over breakfast though which was a complete farce. If you wanted a cooked breakfast it was a huge wait to even get someone to come over and even when they did it was for tea and coffee which apparently means that they only do that and won't take a food order. I gave up and took cereal and got coffee in the meeting room.
A bit of a mixed bag, but I'd give it another chance if I needed to be in the area again.More
