Tender steak and guarantee food the service was good too. Desserts are scrumptious and plenty of choice.

“Decent pit stop for large family group”
Reviewed January 8, 2013

I'm not a fan of chains for anything as the service level is almost always poor, but sometimes you need something that can quickly accomodate a large group and isn't just junk food. These sort of places DO cater for these quite well. 11 of us turned up unannounced, aged between 4 and 94 (!) one Wednesday afternoon at around 5.30pm. The restuarant was quiet at this time and space was found easily. The staff were helpful, but not really friendly. That's the best you can hope for in the UK, customer service is just not something we do very well in this country!

There was a decent choice of food and some great deals as we were early in the day. The kids were kept amused by crayons and pictures to colour in. Our waitress was efficient and patient and seemed to be there at the right time when we needed her. Food in these places is not exactly Michelin Star of course, but it was decent, served at the same time, and some meals were even described by some of the party as 'very nice'. None were sent back and all were eaten entirely.

Puddings and coffees were ordered by most of the party, especially the kids. A small range of these, but unbelievably cheap, ranging from £1 to £2 with the afternoon menu. They were basic, a decent size, and they were good, that's all you can ask.

And the bill? 7 adults, 4 children, 2 courses, coffees, a bottle of wine, 5 pints of beer and some sort drinks, it all came to £103, £115 once we decided on a £12 tip. Outstanding value in my opinion. We left, some two hours later, full up, satisfied and feeling positive about the place. How often can you say that about a 'big chain, rush them in, rush them out' sort of place?

Good experience for us as a family, matched or slightly exceed our expectations across the board. Still wouldn't go there for a special ocassion or as a couple, but that's not what this place is designed for. As long as you remember that, you'll be fine!

“Food good and with free refils excellent value for money”
Reviewed January 7, 2013

good value refills fof chips and soft drinks brought when rquested without any problem

Menu seemed limited - I think this must be only a small beefeater. Our waitress was miserable and hurried - perhaps just a 2nd job in which she had no interest?

“Good, basic restaurant”

Always happy to go here for a basic meal with friends or family but not a special occasion. I always have steak, and it is always nice. Parking really easy.
