“Squeaky clean beds”
Reviewed November 30, 2013

We have stayed several times now at the bank house, and have enjoyed each visit , even though some of the four posters are ever so squeaky !
Some of the staff could do with some lessons in manners , but over all a really good stay,

We spent a lovely weekend at this hotel, Mary could not do enough for us to make our stay more enjoyable, we had a lovely meal in the Thai restaurant, we then moved to a private area where we could have a good old knees up singing our favorite songs, I'm sure Mary remembers our rendition of 8 days a week!!

Thank you all & see you next year

Kindest regards, Steve

Dead flies between window & secondary glazing even though prob 6inch gap so easy to clean - mouldy ceiling round shower - carpet all marked and dirty flooring around toilet raised and coming apart through damp ? Curtains looked like been up for 20 years never been washed - 2 windows but only able to one one - this is room 6 - should be priced at £25 a night for desperate people ? DO NOT STAY HERE

If you need a reasonably priced stop over and aren't expecting to be wowed then this is fine.

Good car park
Good bar
Good staff
Good laundry
Good cleanliness

Improvement needed to dated bathroom
No hair dryer - but delivered when asked for
No room telephone to contact reception

Two unused doorways in room-one joined onto another room and made soundproofing very poor!! Also woke up by guests banging on front door at midnight.
Breakfast expensively priced at £8 so we ate out both mornings and Thai restaurant isn't to our taste so ate out both evenings.

Stayed here as it was close to Alton Towers for our visit there. We had it on a room only basis and basically we only slept here. Bed was comfortable enough and the room was tidy, clean and felt fresh. Been in some hotels in old buildings and felt that nothing had been decorated in centuries. Not here though. The shower was a bit temperamental it was either very hot or cold from one moment to the next, but we used the bath instead and this ran quickly both at night and in the morning, providing us with plenty of hot water.
Overall we were happy with what we had.

Room isn't clean despite being 'cleaned' every day.
Mouldy shower door, stains on walls, mildew on white sheets, THE most uncomfortable bed i have ever slept in - seems like a very old and cheap mattress. Double bed is bizarrely small (my husband and I are small people).
Bedding is made up of white sheet with thin duvet on top - it looks more decorative which makes me question if it gets washed after each guest? I found a frebreeze fabric spray the cleaners left in the room one day which confirmed my suspicion of the top cover not being washed each time otherwise there would be no need to spray it. Mostly just disappointed with the bed situation (which is quite a main factor) and the general cleanliness of the room doesn't match up with daily cleaning service? - dust on surfaces etc.
Breakfast has a good selection and the bar has a traditional English pub feel.
Free client car park is definitely handy given the area.
