i attended the moat house for a family's wedding reception. on my first arrival of the moat house the outside was stunning as was the inside where the reception was being held the room was set how it should be with cutlery on the table which i couldn't work out why as we wasn't having a sit down meal just a finger buffet, the buffet is not what i called fantastic they certainly wasn't enough to feed the 91 guests and they wasn't enough variety for the children even though the bride and groom ordered this. i would say the buffet was differently not value for money that the bride and groom paid for also i would like to add as a cleaner myself the ladies toilets was not up to any standard they smelt and no locks where on the doors.
the bride and groom were happy with everything else the moat house had provided for their wedding reception its just a shame that the staff couldn't admit they got the buffet wrong on the night

I enjoyed our family’s day out at the Moat House so much, the garden was massive and had plenty of things for kids to do, so they don’t get bored. The new management is brilliant and so is the staff. The building is beautifull. The history of the building is also fascinating. The food was excellent, good portions and tasty dishes. I would definitely recommend it to everyone I know.

Since being taken over by new management I have to say that me and my family absolutely love the place. This is one of the nicest buildings in Tamworth and holds so much history ..of course there will be parts that need redecorating after it has been closed and run down for so many years ...and don't forget it is 500 years old and a listed building!! ..all adds to the charm in my eyes. I have been to the Moat over the last few months for a meal on several occasions... the atmosphere is lovely, they are making a real effort to provide a fantastic service in a wonderful building. The food is absolutely amazing.. Sunday Carveries to die for and are huge !!! a pleasant change to the chains of all you can eat carveries...its a proper sunday dinner!! ..
if you have a huge appetite and want great service in such a wonderful environment for a reasonable cost ...go to the Moat .... I know we will be returning...as often as possible !!!!

This restaurant has had an up and down history starting off with 20years of first class food and drinking place.....Then it has been hit and miss over the last 10 years ....Now with the New Manager I think her name is Jill... The Moat hopefully will go forward...The welcome of the Place has improved 100% food standards have inproved ...The entertainment so far looks good.... The venue for Weddings is good....Helpfull Staff....Looking forward to using the eating and drinking area in the garden during the summer, being on the riverside the area is quiet, no traffic noise which is nice...For those who go by car there is a very large car park...This is a lovely building with so much History If you need anything... ask and explaine..and you sould receive

Its obvious the comments below have been spoken about before writing!! You get what you pay for to be honest. From what Ive read the Management catered for what you asked. Now its turned into a witch hunt. I find it strange how Management were thanked for the service provided at the time and now its a different story?? £6.95 a head is minimal. Also guests were transported to hotels as a gesture of goodwill. The Moat is under new management so of course there are certain problems that need addressing i.e the toilets. Give them a break.
