The hotel is ideally situated in the centre of the town although it is on a main road. We had a room overlooking the main road but this was fine. The room was spotless, the beds were comfy, plenty of room for clothes - water in the room was appreciated. Shower wasn't very powerful but it was adequate. A fridge in the room would have been useful but was not a problem. We were very warmly welcomed and all the staff seemed very friendly. The lady at breakfast was very efficient yet really friendly. Breakfast was spot on - well done Boris! You could tell the food was fresh and a good standard - as much toast, coffee and juice as you wanted and whatever combination of breakfast you wanted was possible which shows how accommodating they were. Don't be put off by the Domino's - wasn't an issue. The location fo the hotel is ideal for lots - the Snow Dome (brilliant!!), the cinema, bowling etc. Use the taxi service recommended by the hotel - Bennetts. Several bars and restaurants within close proximity - something for everyone. Thanks to the staff - we were very happy!

OK, plus points first. Very friendly staff who really wanted to be helpful; clean room, good shower with a real cubicle, decent bed and a good breakfast.

But don't look at the rating and expect a four star hotel, because this is definitely only worth three. The room was small, and like several others faces one of the busier roads in the town. The car park is narrow and a bottleneck; it was a good job I thought to ask other residents to shuffle their cars around, otherwise I would have been unable to leave the next morning. I would not have appreciated being disturbed before breakfast. Maybe the owners could organise an arrangement with the nearby Morrisons for overnight parking?

The price was about right, but the personal service seems to have swayed the ratings people to being a bit generous.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the road and travel by train.

Dear reviewer

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review and share your opinions of our accommodation with TripAdvisor readers.

I am pleased to read that you found our staff attentive, the room well cleaned, the shower to your liking and the bed comfortable. I am also pleased you enjoyed your breakfast. We pride ourselves in providing the best experience that we can with our means and I am pleased that you felt your nights stay was priced appropriately.

Your review highlights an important point. We are not a four star hotel, we are 4 star guest accommodation. If you expected a four star hotel you would have been understandably disappointed.

These days various specific classifications of accommodation have been created to give the consumer a better and more specific idea of what to expect from the accommodation they are booking. Our classification is from the nationally recognised and industry leading Visit England Quality in Tourism. Each year the hotel inspectors come out to spend a night at our accommodation and provide a detailed and through annual assessment. All our rooms meet with the inspector’s strict guidelines and all are rated as 4 star guest accommodation.

I am sorry to hear that you had trouble parking. Our car park can only accommodate twelve cars and it can get a little busy. There are two sizable public car parks within a thirty second walk that are free 6pm-8am and on Sundays.

Once again, thank you for your feedback. I hope we have the opportunity to welcome you again should you be staying in Tamworth.

Kind regards

Christopher Gill

The first impression when you arrive is: Where is the hotel? You see a pizza takeaway fronting the street. But when you enter the quiet back yard and gets into the reception and are met by the most wonderful staff, you feel like you are coming home.
The staff feels like family and they will offer a service that you will never find at a large hotel.
My room that faced the back yard was quiet. Well kept and clean. The only thing missing was a small fridge. The bed was a dream to sleep in.
Parking was easy and free in the back yard.
I look forward to my next visit.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the back yard. The street and pizza takeaway generate some noise.

We stayed two nights at this hotel with our little dog. I dreaded the room we were given at the front of the hotel which was next to a pizza takeaway and road - that said there were absolutely no problems. The room itself was lovely, clean and stylish. We had all our evening meals at the Peel which were top notch and could match anything a top chef could offer, absolutely no complaints. Staff were so friendly and took real care of everyone in our party. Lovely little gem of a hotel and when down visiting relations again in the area this will be our little bolt hole.

We stayed there for one night so we could travel to the NEC the next day & upon reading the reviews thought we'd give it a try. Firstly I can't really add much to what has already been said about the hotel. It is a clean tidy place and the staff were really helpful and friendly. It is true though what they say about the small carpark (luckily when we arrived there were still 2 spaces left) but it wouldn't have been a problem if they were full as there is 2 more carparks within a few seconds walk. We never tried the evening meal there as we had booked to go to the Indian just down the road (Jalali) but the breakfast was spot on. The room we had (3) was large and comfy but just outside the windows are large fans going most of the night so if you are a light sleeper like myself you might hear it during the night but this didn't keep my fiancee awake (she'd sleep through a bomb blast). All in all though a good stay at a good price.

Room Tip: Ask for room 3 if you want a romantic night away. A large bedroom with a 4 poster bed.
