I was booked to spend one night in this hotel, booking the accomodation the day before. I mentioned in the space available that I would be arriving late and left email and phone numbers in the normal way. The accomodation is located at motorway services hence only access is via the motorway.

On arrival at the junction before the services, i found that the motorway had been fully closed and hence the hotel was inaccessible. Left stranded in the midlands with no bed to go to, i had no choice but to continue home (a further 4 hour plus drive on a good day) arriving at just after 5am, 23 hours after getting up that morning and ten hours driving.

Had the closure been down to an accident, fair enough nothing could have been done, however in fact a quick internet search revealed the motorway closure was down to advertised roadworks with the motorway closing for the night at 9pm. This would have been well known to the hotel manager well in advance of the closure.

Why then was the hotel on sale the day before and more significantly, why did the manager not bother to contact his guests for that night to warn them that the hotel would not be accessible.

My first letter of complaint was completely ignored.
my second did get a short acknowledgment from customer services promising that the manager would be in touch within 72 hours and customer services would monitor and if response sent respond within 96 hours. 144 hours later, predictably still no response from either.

Really poor customer service. I will not be using this brand again.

We booked 2 rooms, as we a family of 6, but have to say that we would have managed to fit in to one. the size of the rooms were great, we had a double bed, twin beds and a sofa bed, we booked them through booking.com at a cost of £21 per room, and it was well worth it. We expected a lot of noise but even though your next to the motorway it wasnt an issue. Linda on the reception desk helped us with direction to a couple of local places to eat, which were spot on. We stayed here before going to Alton towers and it was well worth it, we would use this hotel again no problem.

We used this as a one night stopover and was not disappointed. The check in was fast and efficient and parking was not a problem as it is on the main M6 services and as a hotel guest you get free parking.
Reception handed the keys over and explained where our room was and about the eating/drinking facilities.
The room was large and comfortable and was perfect for a short stay.
This is a good friendly budget hotel and we would use it again.

We paid only £25 for each of two rooms when my friend and our 3 teenage girls went from Scotland to Alton Towers for a day.

We stayed overnight the night before going to the Park and this hotel was just the ticket. One twin room, and one family room (double and sofa bed). Rooms were basic, but very clean and had all the main necessities eg tv, hairdryer, tea & coffee. Also much better beds than those I had before in a nearby Travel Lodge a couple of years ago. Unfortunately it was absolutely roasting hot in the heatwave and that meant we had to keep all the windows open, with the noise of the M6 outside - but the staff brought us 4 fans and we managed to sleep.

A tip might be to request a room facing the otherside from the Motorway itself though - to minimise noise should you want to open the windows for any reason.

One small problem was that although they knew how many people were due to stay in each room there was only one set of towels in each. Soon rectified though when we asked for some.

All in all a great place for a stopover and/or Alton Towers trip.

Room Tip: Ask for room facing away from M6

Was very impressed with the size of the family room - 2 rooms with an archway! Checked in with no problems. Girl on desk cheery & helpful. The only thing I would say was that the hotel looks tired, could do with a revamp. The room itself was clean and well laid out. Nice location with a few shops, coffee shop, macdonalds, lake with ducks and children's play area.

We stayed here for a couple of nights whilst visiting Alton towers. The only down side was you had to drive from hotel south to junction 14 then head back north to junction 15. The hotel itself was clean comfy and we received good service when in contact with staff. The service station had plenty of eateries for breakfast and places to pick up coffee.

A very convenient location if heading up or down the M6. We usually stay at Trentham Travelodge when going to Stoke on Trent but because we had left it late to book, the room rate had gone from £38 to £78 which we were not prepared to pay. Went on line and found Days inn for £25. As we were heading north it did mean we had to go one junction up and then come back down the M6 but it was only about 15 minutes extra journey time. There is no access from the northbound side.......only the southbound direction. We got an excellent welcome from the lady at reception. Do make sure your car registration number is logged in at reception or you will be charged for overnight parking!!! The room was very clean and modern. Beautiful bath and shower. A proper kettle for tea/ coffee. We had room 37 which was upstairs at the end of the building and was very quiet as there were no guests having to walk past our door. Traffic noise was barely noticeable. We could have had a £10 voucher for food at the service area for £5 but we didn't need it. Good deal however. We would not hesitate to stay again.

Room Tip: If you don't mind one flight of stairs then room 37 at the end of the passage is very quiet.
