“Great stopover on M6”
Reviewed June 5, 2013

A very convenient location if heading up or down the M6. We usually stay at Trentham Travelodge when going to Stoke on Trent but because we had left it late to book, the room rate had gone from £38 to £78 which we were not prepared to pay. Went on line and found Days inn for £25. As we were heading north it did mean we had to go one junction up and then come back down the M6 but it was only about 15 minutes extra journey time. There is no access from the northbound side.......only the southbound direction. We got an excellent welcome from the lady at reception. Do make sure your car registration number is logged in at reception or you will be charged for overnight parking!!! The room was very clean and modern. Beautiful bath and shower. A proper kettle for tea/ coffee. We had room 37 which was upstairs at the end of the building and was very quiet as there were no guests having to walk past our door. Traffic noise was barely noticeable. We could have had a £10 voucher for food at the service area for £5 but we didn't need it. Good deal however. We would not hesitate to stay again.

Room Tip: If you don't mind one flight of stairs then room 37 at the end of the passage is very quiet.

Only arrival reception was unmanned and a cockroach was crawling in reception area. Staff finally arrived we arrived at ground floor room and my young son picked up a used sponge on the floor full of hair !. Couldn't sleep as bed smelt of damp and my husbands chest was wheezy. Did only pay £ 25 pound but didn't expect this poor quality.

When I phoned to book I spoke to a lovely helpful lady. We were after a ground floor room as we were taking 2 dogs and one is unable to climb stairs. Unfortunately there wasn't any available but she's managed to find us a disabled room on the ground floor which was perfect. Room very basic but for an overnight stay on our journey south it was just ideal. Perfect location, lovely and quiet sleep.

We stayed here as a family (myself, husband and two small kids) in Feb half term to go to Alton Towers the following day. Having traveled 4 hours, we were given a very warm welcome, and shown our room which was a family room. It was incredibly spacious, with a whole separate room with two single beds in for the kids as well as a double for us and a sofa. We only paid £29 for the room, so I was expecting a shoe box, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the size of it! Clean and tidy, clean bathroom. The receptionist was very friendly and told us about local restaurants, as well as food on site. Had a great nights sleep, and will definitely stay again.

Room Tip: Family rooms are incredibly spacious, with room for little ones to play without being too much troub...

We stayed the night before a dog show on a VERY snowy day in January. A warm reception for us and the dogs too. Wonderful large and comfy beds and lashings of hot water. Slept well and found the car park and footpaths had been kept free of snow so that we made our getaway without any hitches

Room Tip: Must remember to ask for a ground floor room if possible when we have dogs with us!!

The room was cleans and comftable and the manageress was very helpful and friendly. As a budget overnight stay it was good. The downside was the lack of facilities on site, whilst there was a couple if restaurants across from the hotel they closed around 9.00 o'clock , which meant a trip to the next services for something to eat.
Next morning I had breakfast in the restaurant in the services which was expensive for a poor breakfast, to the extent that had I have known I would have had breakfast elsewhere.
Overall the hotel offered a cheap but comftable stop but be prepared to eat elsewhere.
