Lovely pub right next to Gentleshaw Common. Nice beer garden - perfect to enjoy a drink outside on a summer evening. Cosy in the winter inside.

Thank Nicky G

Last time i went here it was a cheap and cheerful carvery. How it has changed. Went in the other Saturday on speck. Got a table - just. it's now an upmarket pub / restaurant. Had great 3 course meal:- Brie, roast Chicken & mash and Sticky toffee pudding. Nice ales, nice wine, nice people and well priced. Can't fault it.

It must be over 5 years since we last visited the Redmoor after a bad experience concerning uncooked fish and the resultant illness. But having walked my dog over Gentleshaw common many times since then I saw it close and re-open at least twice. So when friends and neighbours mentioned the Redmoo had re-opened and was a totally different pub now with very good food, we decided to take a chance. We had a very nice evening there. There was a warm welcome from the bar staff and after a moment of indecision about the which wine to chose we were offered a taster!
We had booked a table and where30 mins early so we sat in the bar area in some nice easy chairs in what is a very relaxing atmosphere, while we perused the menu. After a short while a very pleasant young lady came and toopk our order after very competently answering our questions on. Various menu items. This enabled us to decide on one starter and two main courses, the fresh bread with oils and olives, followed by the duck breast and salmon with noodles. We were then taken to our table which was laid out with cutlery and napkins, a small candle and fresh flower, great ambience! The starter was well presented with very fresh crusty bread for the oils and a dish of olives with a small salad, there was a temptation to eat all the bread which I reluctantly decided against thinking about the main course. When this arrived it looked very inviting the duck breast was sliced and mounted on a mound of mash surrounded by a moat of delicious red berry Jus and roasted vegetable strips. The salmon was crusted and served with a variety of noodles and fresh veg. We really enjoyed this delicious meal completed by the wine, ambience and the very pleasant helpful staff. We didn't get to try the desert menu, but I did notice a sign on the chimney breast saying there was a pudding club which we will try next time. The Redmoor is a very pleasant friendly pub with very good food.
