Were staying in the area so thought we would give this a try as it is the only local eatery. Arrived at The Horns and asked if they were serving food and were directed to the dining room. We asked for menus and had to wait for an extraordinary length of time to receive them. I had to ask on more than one occasion for them and when they came we were told that wasn't the complete menu because some one else had it ! they obviously dont have enough menus even though they were just printed sheets of paper.
When we eventually managed to order, the food again took a long time to come, we can forgive this if the food is good and freshly cooked then you would expect to wait.
The food arrived and was appalling , soggy chips, limp warm salad, everything was overcooked to the point it was brown , the service was friendly but totally incompetent we had one or two mouth fulls but even that was too much. We refused to eat anymore and told the waitress it was awful. She originally offered to charge us half price but when the chef saw how little we had eaten we were told there was no charge which was realistically the only thing they could do. This place is run down and being managed very poorly. it is a shame as it is the only place there. I would rather drive further afield or in honesty go without any food at all. If you like your food don't go here please.

Went for a small family meal last night, was very quiet and the restaurant needs revamping but apart from that the food was fantastic, you can't knock the value for money. The waitress was also very friendly.
Would like to come back in the summer! :-)

We stoped at the horns on tuesday afternoon not intending to eat just for a quite drink . when we entered the pub we were greated by a very nice barmaid who told us about a hot table they are trialing though aprill two hot dishes a veg dish and potatoe dish eat as much as you can for only £6 per person , we were waiting for the catch ie unlimited topups on the pot & veg only !!, but no you can go up to the hot table as many times as you want and have as much as you want (YES THAT INCLUDES THE MEAT ) as long as your plate is empty you are eligable for a top up . i went for the chicken in a mushroom and stilton sauce to start as did my wife and the for seconds we had roast pork , There was carrots peas \and cauli mixed and roast potatoes . I managed three plates and my wife only managed the two . this lunchtime offer is very very good value for money and it is not " GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR " you would expect boil in the bag and microwave food for this price but no its all fresh food , no its not the best food around you could go and get better food for other restaurants but value for money is second to none
good old honest home cooked grub
Keep it up the horns , we will be returning very very soon

Our local pub with restaurant, recently had a new chef, Ben and the food is really good quality and great value. Had several meals lately including 2 Sunday carverys and a lunch time hot meal. Good quality food, cooked fresh on the premises (which can be a rareity in these days of reheated frozen food in the 2 for a fiver craze). Sunday carvery from £6.99 for one course. Great portion sizes and kids very welcome. This is very much a traditional county pub good for families and locals (you can even get water for you dogs in the bar area), We will keep going and highly recommend.
