“Stunning local scenery”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

We're very fortunate to live in Leek which is just a few minutes drive out of town to the Roaches. Below the Roaches lies Tittesworth Reservior. A visit here is a must, particularly on a nice day. There's a Visitor Centre with a Cafe & Shop, a lovely play area for families & a lovely walk around the perimeter of the lake. If you're a bird watcher, then there are a couple of bird hides. I believe migrating species of birds visit here. If you climb up onto the Roaches, there are fantastic views over the Reservior & beyond. There is one particular granite outcrop called the 'Winking Man', which does actually wink at you as your drive towards Buxton from Leek. If you travel by car from Meerbrook to 'Gun', just a short distance from the Roaches, you again have some spectacular views towards 'The Cloud' & the Cheshire Plain. Also Ludchurch & Danebridge are close by. Well worth a visit We're very fortunate to have such stunning scenery so close to hand. I'd certainly recommend a visit!

“Stunning views”
Reviewed July 29, 2013 via mobile

This us one is for adults or older children who like a good hike. There us a coffee shop nearby and a couple of pubs. Great place to picnic. The views are stunning at the top across Staffordshire, Cheshire and Derbyshire. Good place for dogs too.

“High to low and hot!”
Reviewed July 15, 2013

Great walk from Meerbrook (Lapwing Hall Farm) campsite up to the Roaches, along the top and down to Lud's Church, back along the road. Very unhelpful farmer who had blocked the public footpath with cows AND slurry - still undecided whether to dob him in to the local council. He only had about 12 cows(but it is surprising how much slurry they can make!) so I guess it's hard to make ends meet.........It was really hot.
