“Great for lunch”
Reviewed June 28, 2013

Last time we visited this restaurant it was called Fat Olive's. So we were not certain if we would still like it. We were pleasantly surprised to find some of the original staff still there and the food and service were still as good as we remembered. The lunch time menu has a great selection from soups and sandwiches to a full cooked meal. The wine is a reasonable price and the service is very good. Will definitely visit again and recommend it to other visitors to Leek.

“Pleasant atmosphere outdoor / indoor”
Reviewed June 27, 2013

Nine of us had lunch in the courtyard. The staff were very accommodating, putting tables together, and we were able to relax for as long as we wished in pleasant surroundings. Can recommend the sandwiches - very fresh and not too long a wait. The architecture is interesting and there are small shops to mooch in afterwards.

“Cobbled Courtyard with Glazed roof and lovely Tapas”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

This was a fantastic find - (I was at school in Leek many years ago and it wasn't there then; I think its had various names including 'Fat Olive's'). Its down a little cobbled 'ginnel' off Derby Street, the main street in Leek.
We were looking for a cafe - coffee and a cake and somewhere to sit outside (so this is not a review of the restaurant itself which opens onto the yard, or can be accessed from Bath Street).
Down the cobbled alleyway there are a few interesting shops - an antique shop a scented candle shop etc. The glazed roof is 2 storeys high and is cast-iron Victoriana - very well done. It feels like outdoors. It was about 6pm and there were just a few people catching up on the day or sharing a bottle of wine. We were tempted by the Tapas menu which was very nice and great value (4 small dishes for £7) and then had the coffee and cakes. They were getting ready for live music (singer and acoustic guitar in courtyard) and I wish we could have stayed longer. A great find and we will be back.

“No problem”
Reviewed June 9, 2013

Previously known as David's, fat Olives and now Getliffes . Food average , atmosphere a little flat due to the canteen like atmosphere which was like a refectory and the incessant "Wilkie talkies" going off.....come in Victor 1 !!!
Lovely shy young man serving who really was doing his best so no complaints but every time the senior took an order or request all he said was "no problem" which really was a little grating on the nerves. Whilst he was accommodating he needs to alter his style.
Wine not bad though and everyone seemed to enjoy the outside entertainment.
