“Well worth a visit!”
Review of Blackbrook Zoological Bird Park - CLOSED

Blackbrook Zoological Bird Park
Reviewed May 9, 2013

We went last Sunday as they had advertised that it was currently cheaper due to the toilets being pots loos at the moment and no working cash machines - both of which were true but caused no problems - infant the. Ildren loved the disco toilets, complete with flashing coloured lights and music!! We were all very impressed with the range of birds they have at Blackbrook and just how close to them you are. The sun was shining and we were only disappointed by the fact we had only 2 hours there, we could easily have spent double that time there. Am pleased to hear they are keeping the reduced price for the rest of may - only £20 for 2 adults and 3 children over 5 is a bargain - will be visiting again later in the month!!

We live in North Staffordshire and yet did not know this place existed until it was recommended to us last summer and now we are big fans. The zoo specialises in birds although there are other animals, lemurs, meerkats and tortoises come to mind. Parking is free and the entrance is less than ten pounds for an adult, On the recent bank holiday weekend prices were reduced and it cost us £28 for four adults, two children and two bags of bird feed. We had a great day out and our grandchildren particularly enjoyed feeding time for the pelicans, penguins and meerkats. The pelicans are particularly amusing with their awkward gait and boisterous behaviour. Listening to the knowledgeable staff at feeding time made our visit not just interesting but also an educational day out. Just goes to show you do not need to travel far for a great day out.

As a keen photographer, I had heard about Blackbrook Zoological Park, but as you do, you rarely visit attractions on your doorstep. Well we took the plunge and visited the Park, equipped with cameras and a picnic. What a fantastic place, great atmosphere, well laid out, places to eat. The Park in mainly on one level, but there is easy access to all areas. We will be back...

We have visited blackbrook today and found it truely enjoyable. yes they had porta loos but were easily accessable and many of them. all the staff were friendly polite and helpful. our group of 9 loved the meet the animals part of the day. they got to stroke chicks, hold a snake and had an informative talk about an owl where lots of children asked questions. I am local and knew where it was however.... the signs are there on the main road and the huge array of birds you can see from the main road are also abit of a give away! :-) overall a great day. we spent 3 hours exploring and could have gone around again had it not been so hot. the overflow carpark was available and the young lad organising parking did a great job! My favourite is always seeing the meerkats but my children loved the snake!! All round great place.

Just arrived home from a trip out to this lovely park, what a lovely friendly team of people, they couldn't do enough. The weather certainly did help as it's been a scorcher, the park is beautiful, very well laid out, and I have to say immaculate (especially for such a busy day) We had a lunch in the tearoom which was great, very quick service and lovely staff there too.I have read lots about the bad weather there causing problems with floods and the like, and I am so glad that they have managed to get back open, we will certainly be visiting again. 2 very happy little boys fast asleep on our drive home dreaming of feeding penguins! We won the daily raffle and that was the prize!! Brilliant thank you ;)
