Review of Fitzherbert Arms

Fitzherbert Arms
Ranked #2 of 17 Restaurants in Eccleshall
Cuisines: Pub
Description: We would like to welcome you to the Fitzherbert Arms of Swynnerton. The restoration of the Fitzherbert Arms, our lovely village pub, was a joint venture between Lord Francis Stafford and pub entrepreneurs Mary Mclaughlin and Tim Bird who own a number of award-winning pubs and bars in Cheshire, Staffordshire (us!) and Dorset. We offer home cooked, flavoursome and wholesome food cooked freshly by our kitchen team, a great array of local Staffordshire and Cheshire cask ales across five pumps which are always selected from breweries within a 35 mile radius of our pub. Try our Swynnerton Stout brewed at Titanic Brewery here in Staffordshire or our Fitzherbert Best Bitter brewed just over the ‘border’ in Cheshire by Weetwood. We also have a real cider pump to enjoy. We offer over 30 different Ports and a well selected wine list with 16 different wines by the glass that cater for all tastes. All our food and drinks can be found via the ‘food and drink’ links. We look forward to welcoming everyone to our beautiful English pub.

Been to the fitzherbert probably about ten times now for a meal, each time its consitantly good, hot, plenty on the plate and very tasty, in the week its the lower priced meal free which is a bonus.
Land lord makes you feel very welcome, log fire is a nice effect too.
Would and have recomended to friends.

Food average and over priced, many drinks sold out, more staff in the bar than customers. Restaurant closed, only bar meals available. Looks like it will be closing down again

Went recently with a Signal Discount Dining voucher. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised by the food. I was not expecting the standard to be so good. The tins were excellent. The steak and ale was gorgeous. Both with homemade chips.

We sat near an open fire and my partner had a pint of real ale.

Only downside was we were near the bar and groups of local people came in who all knew each other who proceeded to talk over my shoulder all the way through my meal.
