Cannot be faulted on a value for money basis. Friendly helpful staff, clean modern building, quiet room requested and allocated and although out of town, excellent for the nearby A38. Throw in a modest breakfast for two people and at £65 for the night there is little to complain about, apart from the standard size bed with a soft mattress. If you want to avoid traffic noise, ask for a room the opposite side to the dual carriageway.

Everything about our stay was ok - apart from our double bed was lumpy and quite uncomfortable. Having a half decent bed is pretty fundamental to any hotel, i'd say.

But apart from that the stay was fine. The staff were really helpful in allowing us to check in early (11:00am), they organised our taxi to the wedding we were attending, and the breakfast was perfectly fine (and included in the price).

Also their are some pubs nearby, plus a large Morrisons supermarket with petrol station.

Dear Nick S,

I would like to thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. I was delighted to read that you found the hotel good value and that the staff were helpful. I was really pleased to see that the team managed to get you into your room earlier than the normal 2pm check in.

We do value your feedback as without it we would not be able to improve our service and offering to our guests. I am sorry the bed was not to your liking. I would be grateful if you could send me an email to davidp@exhiburton.co.uk with the room number so that I can have the mattress checked.

I look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Kind regards

Booked this hotel for 2 nights as attending a wedding in Branston area of Burton. Lets start with what a fantasic welcome the 2 ladies at the desk were wonderful - nothing was too much trouble. Had a problem connecting with the Wifi - this was more than resolved by these 2 ladies within minutes. Had a door problem with our key - again the girls were quick to sort it (by this time it seemed like we had been friends for years). Room was excellent. On leaving to go to the wedding even the cleaning staff said how smart we looked and wished us a great day. The guy on the front desk again said how well we had brushed up well and hoped we would enjoy the day.
Breakfast real value for money - and comfortable room.
Checking out we were wished a safe trip home by all of the staff.
Thank you guys, all of you in this hotel -will we be back - yes "1000" times.
Other hotels should take a leaf out of this staff's book on how to treat their guests as they are a massive credit to the company.
One last thing this hotel is so well situated to travel around all of the area

Room Tip: Rooms are not infront of the car park so there is NO noise at all in any room

A quiet room and free breakfast were both bonuses to a very reasonable stay. I had problems with the speed of the 'fast' internet connection, but the price of this was immediately refunded when I mentioned it. Try the 'Flaming Grill' pub just across the car park if you want very cheap (but perfectly reasonable) food and drink. Staff were helpful and welcoming. The only real drawback is the distance from the town centre - a £6 taxi drive. If you happen to be an IC hotels 'Priority Club' premium member, be aware that the only benefit available here is a free newspaper!

As with most other reviews of this hotel, the staff were excellent. Nothing seemed too much trouble for them, despite them being pretty busy, so the extra pillows were delivered hassle free, unlike some other establisments!!
The best thing about the hotel was it's location, as we were visiting family in Leicestershire, having come from Scotland. A very direct route from the M6 toll junction T5 up the A38 to the hotel. Excellent!!
We had a meal in the hotel restaurant and were initially the only customers. My only "issue" was the heating in the restaurant - I was assured that the heating was on but it was really cold, especially after the sun went down.
In fairness, once a few more people started dining, the staff closed the curtains and there did seem to be heat being generated from somewhere.
Overall, it was a good stay and we would stay again.

The great thing about the Holiday Inn Express brand is the consistency across the hotels and Burton-upon-Trent is no exception. The reception staff are informative and very efficient whilst also being run of their feet not only checking people in but also serving from the bar and taking meals out to guests in the lounge.

My room was clean and exactly to specification. I would say that as I was staying on my own the bed was fine however if there are two of you, be careful as the bed seemed to be a double rather than king size. No bath but a good shower with plenty of towels etc.

Flat screen TV and tea and coffee making facilities.

There is a steak restaurant across the car park...it's good value for money however i'd suggest you eat somewhere else and then check in to the hotel as the eating option at both the Express and the steak place are not great

All in all, the hotel met my expectations

Hope this helps

Stayed in a family room with a toddler. All laid out so didn't have to make her bed up ourselves. Reception were helpful at advising us of alternative attractions when the weather turned rainy. Surrounded by a number of eating places. took us a while to find it as we don't know the area and lots of junctions to different shops etc. Plenty of free parking, tea/coffee facilities at reception that you can access all day (which is great) breakfast is a decent selection, wish there was more of a fruit salad available or fruit generally. Overall good value for what we paid and as mentioned the reception staff were friendly and helpful.
