We popped in just for a cup of tea, but the menu was too tempting. The surroundings are sumptuous as is the service and food. Don't forget to spot the difference between the ceilings in the two main rooms. It is an elegant ex liberal club built by Lord Burton, I shall vote for them next time! Go there and enjoy.

I've been here several times with family and friends and also brought a party of ten for my afternoon hen do. All of my experiences have been super positive. Afternoon tea is to be recommended. You enjoy tea, a choice of sandwiches, scones, jam and cream plus ask cake from the display which can be taken away if you are too full. The pricing is good so this enables you to visit more often. It's definitely a great addition to Burton's offering of eateries Laid back, friendly and welcoming.

An absolute gem of a tea room.
Very pleasant atmosphere. Wonderful food. Excellent surroundings.
Try the afternoon tea (£7:00 per head). Tea served from proper ceramic teapots, in china cups, with a choice of various sandwiches. Comes with a side salad and a scone with jam and cream.
In itself, pretty much filling, but still a visit to the cake display awaits !! Good choice of cakes, eclairs and cheesecakes (I had a really good blackcurrant teacake).
The building itself is not just a precinct cafe, but a fantastic building, dating back to the 1800's

Love this place. It is always first choice for lunch when we have time on a Saturday. The building is beautiful, friendly staff lovely food and good value (big china pots of tea - not those little metal ones that never pour properly). Love the fact you can have 'afternoon tea' at any time and if you're too full to eat your cake after your sandwiches and scone you can take it home with you!
