Attraction details
Owner description: Re-opened in 2010, the Centre incorporates the former Bass Museum and tells the story of the birthplace of british beer, its people and the history of brewing in the UK. Our tour guides offer daily tours at 11.00am and 2.00pm each day and really bring the story to life. Sample some of the excellent real ales brewed at the Centre's Worthington Micro Brewery or enjoy a bar meal or a full flagon banquet in our restaurant with a beer and food guide to help you appreciate the flavours of beer. The Centre's corporate and function rooms (and our 400 capacity permanent marquee) are set in the historic brewery buildings and offer a great venue for your company function, weddings, parties and social gatherings.

This is a fascinating and unique museum showing how the brewing of beer started, and how Burton-on-Trent became the brewing capital of the country. The sheer number of people employed in brewing and how they carried on with women workers during the war when the men were away fighting is amazing. This is a great day out, and you are even given vouchers to sample some of the real ales in the adjoining pub.

My partner and I came for the beer festival and were not disappointed! They had an excellent selection, including ciders, imported bottles and locally brewed ales. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable about the drinks. We had a look around and the museum seemed really interesting, though we didn't have time for a tour. Very nice food available too!

Lots to read and look at but felt a bit 'underwhelmed'. Would have liked better audio-visuals (not like the awful one when you first go in) - perhaps a full screen picture of the process in action with sound (and perhaps smell). There was an interactive machine at the end of the tour, but only one - there should have been more.

Would also have liked a simple map to help to see what was there.

Liked the tasting glasses - stopped for two glasses part way round and then had the other two at the end. Food was good.

An interesting few hours, just felt that there was potential for a more memorable experience.

Arrived early for our conducted tour, staff very welcoming, we were soon enjoying a very good coffee. Tour commenced on time with a very informative guide who made the tour very interesting.
I loved to learn where various "sayings" originated and of course the men looked forward to the beer samples in the bar and we finished with soup and sandwiches. Well done!!
