Review of The National Brewery Centre

The National Brewery Centre
Certificate of Excellence

Attraction details
Owner description: Re-opened in 2010, the Centre incorporates the former Bass Museum and tells the story of the birthplace of british beer, its people and the history of brewing in the UK. Our tour guides offer daily tours at 11.00am and 2.00pm each day and really bring the story to life. Sample some of the excellent real ales brewed at the Centre's Worthington Micro Brewery or enjoy a bar meal or a full flagon banquet in our restaurant with a beer and food guide to help you appreciate the flavours of beer. The Centre's corporate and function rooms (and our 400 capacity permanent marquee) are set in the historic brewery buildings and offer a great venue for your company function, weddings, parties and social gatherings.

“Was Expecting More”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 9, 2012

We visited at half term so were surprised there were no staff around to engage with visitors. We had to ask for the audio tour which was free as there was no one to do the proper tour. Wandering around was ok as a concept ten years ago but museums have moved on a bit since then. It went down hill from having to wait for the cashier to finish her personal call on her mobile phone.

A lot of money has been spent on the venue but its the customer service that really matters and this was not bad so much as none existent.

“Loads to see - good for families and historians.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 5, 2012

We have been here quite a few times over the last 15 years. Used to be the Bass museum which was under threat of closure, but has now been rebranded a national museum.
Its always been pretty quiet when we have been here - so good for kids to explore. Lots of interactive stuff in large block across courtyard. Pub games are good in the tap room. Lots of local history told in an interesting way, and the model of old Burton is great!
Sometimes the horses are there and in the past we have been on a dray ride around the town.
To get the best out of it - don't rush round it and make sure you have been everywhere. At the end is a free drink and a small play area for the kids. You could easily spend 3 hours here.

“Worth a visit”

This place is really nice, but they could do so much more, especially on customer service. It's like the staff need a bit of a rocket....
