Dovecliffe hall does what it says on the tin......gives you grand surroundings including some river views if you have the time & weather to take walk in the gardens.
I can see why this would be a good wedding choice also.
Had lunch recently...which was my first for a few years.....the menu seems to hover between good and great. There are several supplements for many dishes.....this seems to be de rigueur amongst most better eating estabishments.
Thoroughly enjoyed it with good service and a decent bottle of wine.
Recommended for special occasions, splurges or cravings against generic chain restraint eating.

My husband and had our wedding reception here on November 17th and everything was flawless. We had been planning our wedding at Dovecliff for over 2 years with Stacey and nothing was ever too much or too awkward for her or them to make our dreams a reality. Guests from all over the world fell in love with the hotel, as did we. Staff made us feel truly special, the food was exceptional, rooms beautiful and if a problem arose- the manager dealt with it calmly, professionally and always considered us as the important factor in it all. We can't wait to stay with you all again. From the bottom of our hearts, thank you. Charlotte and Will.

Driving up the lane it looked lovely.
It's has a lot of character and is very locked after.
The receptionist was lovely who checked me in.
My room was on the outside of the main building, thinking oh no here we go put out in a annexe, but not to worry room 112 was beautiful.it has high ceilings and the tallest wardrobe I've ever seen.
Bathroom clean and sparkling.
Bed ever so comfy.
The offer of room service seems very limited from the in room guide book, but if you call reception you can have choice of the restaurant menu.
The food was absolutely amazing , the salmon was to die for .......and my indulgent orange bread and butter pudding was mouth watering.
There is also a little patio area outside the French windows which would be lovely in the summer.
I would definitely stay here again, maybe come back for a weekend.
Lovely lovely lovely.

Our daughter held her wedding here on November 3rd and I can say with all honesty that from start to finish the service we received was excellent. The staff, Stacey in particular, were really helpful and carried out all our requests in a pleasant and professional manner. The hotel itself is a lovely old building with lots of character, and the rooms inside are tastefully furnished and decorated. It is set in beautiful countryside and has lovely grounds for taking wedding photographs. The meal we had at the wedding breakfast was very, very good - everything of a high standard and plentiful to say the least. Likewise the evening buffet! Our room was spacious and had a good sized bathroom with a very big bath. The bed was comfortable and we both slept well. We looked out over the river and it was very quiet. All in all we felt that we had found somewhere really special for our daughters wedding and would highly recommend it to other couples looking for an elegant venue that doesn't cost the earth.

Had a wonderful lazy afternoon in beautiful surroundings and the afternoon tea was excellent. Delicious smoked salmon and cucumer sandwiches, chocolate cake, clotted cream and strawberry jam scones and delicious pasteries. Wonderful. Thank you very much.

We stayed one Saturday night and had booked ahead. Hotel in really nice rural setting. Clean but very 'traditional'. Our double room and its bathroom were spacious enough and the bed was comfortable, but we were in a ground floor corner room and since other guests had full access to the area outside and the room had no net curtains or blinds at its window and french windows, we had to draw the curtains for privacy. We didn't dine there in the evening so can't comment on the menu. In the morning we endured slightly warm to cold water for our showers, and our friends who also stayed at the hotel at the same had the same problem. Adequately supplying the morning demand for hot water for showers in a good hotel is a must in my opinion, at all times, and no excuses. The breakfast was OK but I must add that the 'omelette' I was served was unique to me in its appearance and texture! All in all our experience was average but since we were there on a deal, it represented reasonable value for money.
