First visit of two for lunch was just after the present proprietor took over after an extensive refurbishment.
The premises are now very good indeed. The ambiance cannot be criticised- a lovely comfortable Staffordshire pub, I would struggle to find a better in the area.
Food on the first visit was very good and the service was quick and efficient-no complaints whatsoever in fact just the opposite. However the return visit was slightly marred by indifferent service The food was still excellent but the gap between courses was really too long. As luck would have it we were with friends whom we had not seen for some time so the lengthy time taken was to a degree acceptable but the management would not have known that!
Local view seems generally to be that a visit is worthwhile and I would certainly do nothing to depart from that judgment.
I look forward to another visit in the near future.
