Found the Chained Oak on Google Maps and booked for one night after our day at the theme park. Fantastic setting.
Great welcome from the proprietor, Liz who showed us all the facilities and our room in the "stable block".
We went for good long walk passed the chained oak tree down into the valley below and along what was once the old railway line.
After a very confortable sleep and a good shower, we enjoyed a fine breakfast all for £68 for the two of us. Great value!
Would highly recommend.

We stayed here for 2 nights on a trip to Alton Towers.
We were in room number 2 in the stable block. The room was spotless & smelled fresh & clean (something I'm a little obsessed with!) on arrival. A cozy room with TV & DVD player and a lovely en-suite.

Liz was fabulous and such a warm host, offering advice on where to eat out etc.

I would recommend this little B&B to anyone-a fab find

We stayed here for one night on a visit to Alton Towers and we were extremely pleased with our stay. I would definitely recommend for anyone wanting to visit the park as the walk is not even 10 minutes and saves the £6 parking fee. Liz was a brilliant host and even gave us a lift up to the park because of the snow. The room and breakfast was great. Couldn't have found a better place!

An absolutely amazing place with very helpful hosts. We arrived on Friday night to quite a bit of snow. We were warmly welcomed and showed around. We made the most of being able to sit in the lounge where there was a lovely log fire all stoked up. LIz recommended a place to eat and we weren't disappointed. Room was lovely and comfortable and the shower was lovely and hot and powerful. Breakfast set us up for the day and was lovely to look out at the panoramic view and the very deep snow!! Unfortunately Alton Towers was shut so we didn't get to go there but we are still glad we went and enjoyed our night at Chained Oak. We must also thank the whole of the family for helping us to sift through snow to find my lost mobile phone and car keys which I didn't realise had fallen out of my pocket. A definite 10/10 and hopefully we will return very soon.

I stayed at this B&B on a Thursday night following a visit to Alton Towers and was very impressed. We were able to park at the farm and leave the car before our visit to the park saving us on the £6 car park fee. The farm is a 10 minute walk to the entrance of Alton Towers so a great location. It was small and cosy and our room was lovely- amazing power shower, very warm with heaters and blankets and tv/dvd, comfy bed and tea/coffee. It was a lovely quiet spot and we enjoyed the breakfast (cooked brekkie with cereals and toast). Liz was a lovely host and I thought this was excellent value for money at only £68 for a double room and breakfast- a must if visiting the theme park, very impressed.

Me and my partner have stayed at the chained oak farm on about 4 occasions and we are already booked to return in April with other family joining us this time. The chained oak farm is an amazing place to stay when visiting Alton Towers not only because it is so close to the park but because Liz is a wonderful host and nothing is ever too much to ask. The full English breakfast in the beautiful breakfast room is a great start to any day. The rooms are spotless and warm, the beds are very comfy and the bathrooms are great especially the power showers. The converted stable accommodation looks amazing inside and out. We also enjoy the walk down to the chained oak from the ride hex. We have already planned our next stay after our April trip. Very good value for money.

Stayed here for one night whilst visiting Alton Towers and what a fantastic choice we made. Very good value for money in a great location. Room was lovely, clean & comfortable. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate provided. Bed was very comfortable & power shower great. We opted to get a take away delivered which we then ate in the garden (breakfast) room. Great idea as saved going back out & everything we needed was provided. There is also a lounge though we didn't use this. Breakfast in the morning was delicious and as well as a full English there was toast & cereals available. We will be back!
