“Fantastic room, wonderful family break!”
Reviewed July 1, 2014 via mobile

We had booked a standard room in June for my husband and our two year old little girl. We were delighted to find our room had been upgraded to the new Moon Landings room. It was themed throughout and was spotless. We even had a lovely view of fields and pheasants. The breakfast was a little basic and there were no children's breakfast items such as petit filous but other than that it was fine. We ate at Flambos all you can eat which was excellent value with good quality food. We also ate at The Secret Garden which although the food was of good quality, the staff were over worked and not particularly helpful. The park itself was amazing as always and cbeebies land was very popular with my little one, just magical! The queues were minimal as it was during the week so we did everything we wanted to do. Overall our trip was lovely and I would definitely book to stay at the hotel again!

Dear zoesweetcharity,

Thank you for your review on Trip Advisor.

We're delighted to hear you enjoyed your stay with us in the Alton Towers Hotel, particularly our Moon Voyagers Room!

We take great pride in all aspects of our Resort, and so we're pleased to hear you enjoyed your meals in both Flambo's and Secret Garden Restaurant, however we're sorry to hear you found our staff overworked in the latter. We shall pass these comments onto the Senior Management Team for review.

We're also pleased you enjoyed your visit to our theme park, and found queue times minimal throughout!

We thank you for staying, and we look forward to seeing you again soon.

Best Wishes,

Peter

25 minutes to get a drink from the bar! 45 mins for starter then another 45 for mains in emperors grill which we had to go in as all restaurants fully booked. Bedroom phone not working and TV looked like it was snowing as picture so poor in room 133. For £200+ for one night not impressed. The wife complained to reception who refunded us £50 but the kids still missed the entertainment as we were sat in the restaurant waiting to be served! Also wife's steak raw but no offer of refund when she complained and didn't eat it after waiting 45 mins!

Myself and 10 workmates went here as we were staying at Alton Towers and we were blown away by the food and the service, the price was right and the menu had a large selection on it. If your in the area pop in and you won't be disappointed. We all left with a full belly and a smile.

In general, my stay was really enjoyable, but there were a few issues.
The good: reasonably sized rooms, kids loved the bunks. Nice communal areas, gardens looked great. The quality of the food in the 2 restaurants was really good, much better than expected, and breakfast was good too. Good to be able to walk to Splash Landing for a bit of variety too. Luggage stored and placed in room ready for when we came back to get into the room
The bad: room hadn't been vacuumed or dusted ( to be fair it was sorted straight away). Not enough staff on front desk at busy times and check-in process seemed longer than needed, especially as the room wasn't ready at the first visit. Not really that much entertainment for the kids, and the schedule was not well publicised. Bar very busy and understaffed. Big queue and they ran out of spirits, cocktail mix and glasses! Full price room rates very, very, very expensive for what you get.
Having said all that, I would go here again if I was having a weekend in Alton Towers. When issues were discussed with management they were very good at sorting them out and making it right.

I stayed here for a convention and stayed in one of the theme rooms, which was a cross between a space ship and Dr Who , it was a shame that I did not have the kids with me as they would have loved it. Only slight issues was the air conditioning unit in the room was very loud and led to a poor nights sleep due to waking up to turn air con off due to noise then back on due to heat.
Breakfast was pretty good, but worth getting there early as there was quite a queue when I left.

Room Tip: If you have kids its worth upgrading to a themed room

Took my daughter aged 14 and her friend for a one night two day break .....
Booked a table on first night for restaurant in the water park ... All you can eat type with dishes from around the world ??
Not quite that tho.
Service for drinks was very slow and had to repeat my order 3times the waiter wrote down order and still managed to bring the wrong ones ??
Got charged for drinks if ordered tho ??
No apology or refund offered ??

Woke this morning to my daughter crying .... She was locked in the bathroom in our room ... I had to call reception twice before anyone came to help !!!!
I asked for the manager to come to our room and he came in and said " she's only been locked in there for 4 mins "
So sorry and best I can do is give you £50 refund on the room"
He left the room ..... I was in shock and utterly disgusted with this so called manger Ian !!!!!!
I took the kids for breakfast and also spoke to Ian ( So called manager ) whist on my own and explain that the £50 refund was to myself but he hadn't even asked my 14yr old daughter if she was ok ?? Or acknowledge her in and way shape or form ?? And that maybe he should ???
He said he was sorry and to send the down once she was ready to se him ??
She went with her mate to the reception to be told she can't see him it had to be me ? Her mother !!
So once again she's left feeling let down and she's not received any apology bit it verbal or even a box of sweets !!
Nothing .... We are still here for the day and this is not being left .... There was a very kind lady at hotel who has given me another mangers details to take this matter further and that I will do.
I will also be returning with my daughter to this so called manger to see what he has to say now ????
Compleat let down with management .... Rooms and food ... Park and rides great fun but not worth the money at all.
