Great service with friendly staff, and checking in was easy and efficient. I was with my son and we loved the stay and booked in to the buffet restaurant both nights, again great staff and so friendly and the food was as you would probably expect from an all you can eat buffet, so no complaints there.
I do think perhaps the floors should be separated for considerate parents and those who don’t really mind, as the constant footsteps of children running up and down the corridors and hitting doors as they pass is a real pain when you are trying to sleep. Perhaps there should be a sign, suggesting adults stop the kids from running through the corridors, or suggesting common sense and courtesy is applied? But if all the courteous people were on one floor the others can run and do as they please, and only disturb like-minded people!!
But I won’t let the minority take away from what was a tremendous break for me and my son, loved the pool, loved the rides, loved the staff!! As a single dad, keeping a young kid entertained on your own is not always easy, but there was not a single minute where we/he could possibly be bored. Till next time!!!!

Stayed here april 2014 for 2 nights with my husband and 2 children (8&3yrs). We had a brilliant time!
The room was perfect for us, the kids loved the bunk beds! nicely decorated and clean. It was very hot through the night, which I assume is because we were in the waterpark hotel so it needs to be kept warm, but luckily there was a big fan which we left on. I was extremely please there was a hairdryer in the room too as i forgot to pack mine!
Breakfast was amazing, a huge choice, we all loved it.
We also loved that we could walk down to the waterpark in our swimwear as our room was so close!
The only issue we had was that when we arrived we were given all the information by the reception staff about the restaurants and they advised we book a table but we didn't really want a hinge meal so asked if there was anywhere we could get something small n were told that Ma Garritas did pizza/pasta, we asked if we could book to go there but we were told they didn't take bookings and we would just get a table by walking in. So at 7pm we went over only to be told that the next table wouldn't be available until 8:30pm! I find this totally ridiculous when we were specifically told we would get a table straight away. Its obviously a popular place to eat so why not take bookings? We would have happily booked. No other restaurants in either hotel had any tables until after 9pm so we had to drive out of Alton Towers and ate at a little pub in the village.
We would stay here again as the hotel is lovely.

Dear Melissa,

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review on Trip Advisor.

We are pleased that your family enjoyed their visit to the Splash Landings Hotel and you found your room to be nicely decorated and very clean. It's great that you made use of the Water Park too!

The restaurants in our hotels are extremely popular, especially during school holiday periods so as part of the check in procedure our receptionists do advise guests to book a table. We apologise that you were misinformed in regards to Ma Garritas Bar and will pass your feedback onto the relevant department.

We hope to welcome your family back to the resort again soon. At the end of May we have Cbeebies Land opening in the Theme Park which we are sure your 3 year old will enjoy! Thanks again for your review.

Best wishes,

We stayed here Easter holidays on arrival we were to early to fully check in they took our bags and we took advantage of the indoor swimming pool. Our ten year old loved it. We only left as we had booked a table at all you can eat in hotel for half five as it was booked up untill half nine. The hotel is bursting with character as soon as we walked in it made a great impression. Our room was a tiny bit cramped with the three of us but other than sleeping we were never in there. The monorail is right outside the hotel it takes you straight to theme park an hour before the public is allowed to enter. The hotel it great but as you would expect it's pricey. If your going to stay in resort book your tables at restaurant other wise there is KFC and Franky and Bennys 20mins away. They could do with towel rails in bathrooms but other than that it was just what we needed

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to complete a review on Trip Advisor.

We are delighted that you enjoyed your short break at the Splash Landings Hotel and felt that it was busting with character. We hope that it really did make you feel like you were in the Caribbean! We are glad that you enjoyed both the Theme Park and the Water Park too.

We highly recommend that our guests pre-book a table in one of our restaurants prior to their arrival to guarantee their preferred dining time. Flambos Restaurant can get very busy, especially during school holiday periods so we are glad that you were able to make a reservation.

We will pass your feedback onto the relevant team regarding the possibility of adding towel rails into our bathrooms.

We hope to welcome your and your family back to the resort again soon.

Best wishes,

We travelled here as a couple earlier on this week and a had a very mixed experience. We booked using a sun offer so paid £107 for one night in a standard beachcomber room for two adults with breakfast. We arrived at 9am, and signed in to the Hotel at the check in desk. First impressions were great, the hotel looked fantastic, was beautifully designed and clean and was greeted by a lovely lady at reception (named Poppy I think?) who told us our room would be ready at 3pm, answered all our questions and had our luggage taken off us ready for when we returned later. When we came to check in at about 5.30pm after being to the theme park, it seemed Poppy had clocked off and had been replaced by Team Miserable, the most lethargic and snotty group of female receptionists who answered all my questions as "there's nothing i can do about it, i'm afraid". We tried to make a dinner reservation and was told there were no spaces available till 9.15pm and had to take that one, although she offered the family standing behind us a reservation at 8pm, at the same place literally about 10 seconds after. Not really what you want to hear as a customer.
We went to our room which was lovely. Nice and spacious with some cute touches like crayons and a colouring book which would have been great if we had kids. Very clean despite a spattering of 'Primark' labels from the previous guest which the cleaner must have missed. Bathroom was a massive wetroom but that may be as we were on the ground floor with disabled access. As we couldn't get dinner until 9.15, we went to their bar Ma Garritas to grab a drink beforehand only to find it was the middle of the childrens entertainment, which is fine apart from there was absolutely nowhere to sit as all the chairs were being reserved for children who were playing by the stage all night, and it was impossible to have a conversation anywhere as there was no adults section of the bar or even anywhere else to take your drinks unless you wanted to sit on the smokers terrace outside. We were bored and felt undervalued, and ended up cramming onto two chairs on a tiny plastic childrens table in the main entrance, shared with another family.
We went for dinner at Flambo's buffet, and the food was very tasty however as it was so late, the chefs who were cutting the meat etc seemed to leave halfway through our meal and we ended up feeling like we had to rush as they wanted to close. The chocolate fountain was full of all dirty bits of doughnut and marshmallows floating through it and all the desserts had been broken up and pushed off the plate so we couldn't eat any. We also had a very strange experience from the waiting service. We were met at our table by a very friendly young waiter named Tom who explained to us how the buffet worked and was in the middle of taking our drinks order when another waitress with a foreign accent came across and started giving the same information to my boyfriend, trying to get him to order separately to me. It was weird. She was talking across Tom, giving the same information and trying to bully him away. My partner basically said he wanted to order with me and not separately, so she left only for about 5 minutes when she came back and insisted that she be our waitress and when we want her bill we go to her. It made the evening very uncomfortable as poor Tom kept coming over to clear our plates and check on us and she kept pushing him aside and taking stuff off him and patting him on his back like a child and we just felt awful for him. She did it on many other tables we noticed as well and it was extremely off putting. Other than that, the food was actually quite tasty we just wish the dessert table had been maintained a little better.
Luckily after this we found out there was an arcade outside Flambo's so managed to entertain ourselves otherwise it would have been really boring. We had breakfast the next morning in Flambo's again which I cannot fault, it was delicious, well maintained and a great choice. After this we went to the waterpark which I will recommend to anybody, we had a lovely time here.
Overall it's an attractive hotel, lovely big rooms, just some of the evening staff had bad customer service and there is nothing in particular for adults to do. I bet the families who were there with young children absolutely loved it, but we, and the two other young couples we saw during our stay, did not enjoy it as there was nothing for older people to do and we were left feeling unwelcome.

Room Tip: Take earplugs if you're a light sleeper as children run up and down the hallway pretty much all...

Have just returned from a 1 night stay at this hotel. My children 8 & 4(whilst we were there) loved the water park and the staff could not have been more helpful and they made a real fuss of the birthday girl!!
The room was basic but absolutely fine for the time we were in it and we had our evening meal in "the secret garden" which was in the main hotel and not that much more expensive than the buffet. The girls enjoyed the evening entertainment - all in all a huge success!!

Got a great deal considering it was half term so decided to stay 2 nights. Having stayed here twice before, we knew it was a lovely themed hotel and obviously the location was the pulling point.
Room was small (which doesnt bother us too much) clean and well themed. We found the beds to be very hard and really noisy every time we moved. Coupled with the noise of inconsiderate families running up and down the corridor and shouting to each other until late at night, it didnt make for a good night sleep. We had this problem last time we stayed so I know its not an isolated incident. Having said that, there's not much the hotel can do about its guests so I hold no grudges. I just write with the hope any future guests read this and realise not all families stay awake until late and to maybe be quiet outside others' rooms. With the negatives in mind, I would certainly not be happy to pay the £200+ per night that they charge on a normal rate room.
Now for the positives!
Whole hotel is well themed, clean, and lovely, friendly staff. Facilities are good, with a variety of food options, including the Alton Towers hotel next door. We only ever ate at Flambos (for breakfast and dinner) and loved the variety and quality of the food on offer. Good value for money too, especially with our 20% annual pass discount!!
Would definitely stay again, although will probably request a room at the end of the corridor!

We booked Splash Landings for our son's 10th birthday. The hotel itself is very colourful and has been designed with kids in mind. The reception area is spacious and there are steps up to the desk for the kids - clearly the resort wants children to feel that they're involved from the outset. Our room, situated on the same floor as reception, was roomy and comfortable. Access to the waterpark is gained from the hotel itself and the bar/restaurant windows look out onto it. We had great fun going down the slides!

Now for the food. Book elsewhere if you prefer fine dining. There are two restaurants but we booked the buffet for both nights. I would say that the food was what you should expect from an all you can eat buffet. Tasty enough with a reasonable choice and price. What the hotel staff and waiters excel in is good service. Everyone we spoke to was friendly, respectful and made us feel as though we were their most important customer. This goes for the entire resort. Well done. Our waiter Sam made our sons birthday very special when he asked him to stand on a chair and invited everyone there to sing happy birthday. Thank you.

The park itself is excellent and easily accessed from the hotel by monorail. We took advantage of the hotel early entry to experience queue free rides. Having said that, queues on both days throughout the day were no longer than about 40mins and definitely worth the wait. Our son was just under the 1.4 height for the big rides so I had to go alone. The advantage is I was a single rider and queues were a lot shorter. I'd recommend Smiler (obviously), Oblivion, Rita, 13, Nemisis, Air, Sonic, Hex - all the rides. Take plenty pound coins to soak the unsuspecting River Rapid Riders! We laughed for ages and naturally we too got soaked on our turn. All great fun. We've stayed at Disneyland Paris before and whilst that probably has the edge, Alton Towers is a worthy rival and most certainly should not be overlooked by thrill seekers looking for their next adventure. We can't wait to return!
