“Santa Sleepover ..... Magical times”
Reviewed January 1, 2013 via mobile

Stayed at the hotel Sunday/Monday for Santa Sleepover, 3 adults and one child. Check in was quick and easy-made aware of entertainment on offer throughout the park and both hotel sites.
Courtesy buses were great-pick uo and drop off at convenient place.
Park staff all keen and appeared to be enjoying themselves-lovely relaxed atmosphere.
One suggestion is that when people are booked in to see Santa, please make them aware of the approx waiting time as some people chose to queue up before their allotted time and this had the knock on effect of us having to wait nearly 40mins to.see Santa.
Evening meal in hotel was good-service a little slow at times but only to be expected when hotel fully booked.
Entertainment in hotel was great-band in Alton Times hotel did a great job and we all enjoyed ourselves.
The family room was 'compact' but adequate-double bed and bunk beds. The room was clean and nice touch from housekeeping who folded.our towels into elephant shapes!
All in all we had a great mine and will be looking into another Santa sleepover in 2013.

We read the reviews beforehand and wasn't expecting much. However we feel we had our money's worth. We arrived early and our room was ready. It rained all the time we were there but still managed to go the park. Some of the rides were open and staff were friendly and even wiped down the rides so kids wouldn't get wet. we ate in secret garden( 2 families with 2 children each). the food was lovely and the atmosphere was very pleasant. we went to the disco, kids loved it, but no where to sit, and it wasextremely hot. We stayed in room 1408, we didn't get much sleep, was noisy for a little while as people were returning to their rooms. The room above was also noisy, we contacted reception and this stopped. Our room was so hot it was uncomfortable to sleep. The next day had breakfast this was nice, but the glasses did smell funny. We then went to the water park, had a brill time, kids loved it. Lots of changing rooms and lockers, hair dryers were free. After this we went to the sea life it was brilliant and kids loved it. We were a bit annoyed though as asked at reception if there were any snack bars on the park open to get a burger or something. We were told no, so we went to secret garden and this cost a fortune for sandwiches. We then foind plenty of snak bars open on the park. There were plenty of buses too and from the park so you weren't left waiting for a bus.

Over all we enjoyed our stay and it made our christmas this year. Well worth the money

Myself and my wife stayed for 1 night (2 days) with our 1 and 4 year old between Xmas and NY. Overall we had a great stay. 1st day we went to the waterpark, 2nd to the Theme Park (all included) where lots of the smaller rides were open which was great for our 4 year old.

I was surprised how many things were available in the theme park, I thought it would just be a few things in storybook land but there were attractions available throughout the whole place so plenty of walking just like when we have been as just adults. Because the place is so quiet you are pretty much straight on to any rides/bouncy castles etc. Whole place made to look great at xmas.

As for the waterpark on day 1. The negatives were simply how busy it was. I guess that’s not seen as an issue to the place, as if its busy – people are paying, so they are getting all the money but simply making your way through the main pool area was a military operation. Also – The changing area was a complete nightmare, so hard to find a cubicle never mind a family one, and a locker (2 needed for the family) nearest available a long way away from cubicle made it a bit of a pain ferrying stuff about (make sure you have 2 pound coins for each locker you need – get it all back ). We got a single cubicle eventually and took it in turns. That said it didn’t really spoil our fun. The queue for the main slide did look quite big, but we went for the smaller rubber ring slides (just 3-4 min wait). My 4 yr old loved it – went on loads of times. Also great fun up in the waterworks, endless fun with various ways of drenching unsuspecting people below. (beware – at some stage you will be that person!) we kept our 1 yr old away from that section for obvious reasons)

We struck lucky at lunch getting a seat and very small queue – it suddenly got very busy around 1300.

If you are a slide enthusiast or maybe your kids are older and can go in alone, get in there between 9-11am when its much quieter and go on them as much as poss.

Restaurants very nice, whole place quite grand really. Have a wander around, check out all the bars, they are really quite nice, you might need a bit of luck getting a seat (both hotels fully booked when we were there). Our eldest had fun dancing at night and me and the wife spent a small fortune on beer and gin – but we enjoyed it!

We had a good stay overall but feel things could be improved. The water park itself is accessed through the hotel so it gets very busy with non residents making it difficult to get seats in the bar etc. Feel it needs someway of differentiating between the 2 types of guests. Also the choices of restaurants wasn't great. The food quality was good but overpriced. They do advise booking a table early as they fill very very quickly. We tried booking the buffet restaurant in the morning for that evening and the earliest time they was 8pm (not great with a 20 month old unfortunately!). A lot of reviews mention noise. We had a room change due to a very noisy family who allowed their kids to run along the corridors at 11pm!! Even in the new room you could hear people in the corridor but it's no worse than any other hotel. Would stay again but would opt for the Alton towers hotel as it looked much nicer.

We booked a santas sleepover in a Pirate themed room staying on Wednesday 19th December. I wanted to write a review as before leaving we were very concerned by some of the reviews about the hotel in general and in particular the pirate themed room. We really enjoyed our stay and felt the extra money for the themed room was well worth it. Firstly the room, we thought it was very spacious, granted its dark - but its supposed to be on a pirate galleon so it would be?!, and lots of fun. We had 2 adults and a 2.5yr old child in the room so more than ample for us. My son loved the treats inside the treasure chest, helium ballons and enjoyed the x box game etc. Our room didnt smell funny and actually the staff were very good - we had to call them to adjust the x box settings and again to turn off the "pirate" welcome as our son was scared by this. However the staff came very quickly and switched off the sound effects. Our son is still talking about our pirate room and wants to go back.
As regards activities we thought the santas grotto was brilliant, no queue and both santa and the helpers were very good. We had a good amount of time in santas house and the photos were also very good. Rides also brilliant for our son. Food in restuarant was good enough and we felt the drinks etc were well priced. All in all I would recommend santas sleepover, a great alternative to euro disney at a great price (euro disney was quoting us £1000 for 2 nights, we paid £315 for santas sleepover)

This is our 3rd stay to the splash landings hotel , we booked a festive break at a good price of £148 for 2 adults 2 children which inc water park and theme park for a selection of small rides.
we arrived at 12 our room was ready which we where really pleased about this as on our previous stays we have put or bags into holding until the check in time of 3 . Once back in the room we tried to make a reservation to the buffett restaurant which we where told abruptly nothing until 9.30 and the secret garden restaurant is full also the only option is to go to the bar and grill , i explained we had 2 young children and didnt really thing the bar and grill was appropiate for them but was told we are a busy restaurant you know ! Anyway i was fuming with the young girls tone on the phone and that as a paying hotel guest arriving at 12 you cant get in any of the restaurants !!!This has never happened before even when we have stayed through the scare fest and half term ! i went down to the desk to speak to someone about this , a politely asked if i could book a table and they came up with 8 o clock, thats funny when i was told nothing until 9 .30 on the phone a few minutes beforehand !!!!! This time as still a tad late for the children but we didnt think we had any choice . The swimming was good as always nice and warm but was very very busy no where to sit , no life suits for children left and well over a hour wait for the flumes - overall this didnt spoil the children having fun . Night time entertainment was good for the children and the bar was ok . Not a great nights sleep as the room very hot even with the window open all night and children banging around to gone twelve in the room above but again didnt spoil it as we came away for the kids not for a relaxing break. the breakfast was fine buffett style . the 2nd day we went into the theme park this was really quiet and throughly enjoyed by the children . This stay would of been again 4/5 stars but due to the fact we had alot of hassle over getting a table to eat and eating very late for the children which wasnt the most enjoyable with over tired children !!! i can only vote this stay as average as it did spoil our evening that night .

We had arranged to take our grandchildren here before we read the reviews and were wondering if we had wasted our money. We have enjoyed luxury hols over the years and got used to the best in life!! Maybe we were lucky but Wow was it good! The minute we arrived we were greeted by such a charming gentleman who enquired after our journey etc. The room was immaculate, sparkling clean and looked as if there was either new carpet or it had been steam cleaned. All toiletries were proveded even little goldfish bubble baths for the kids. Tea and coffee, hairdryer TV etc. Not that we were in there except to sleep! The theme park was good. Kids enjoyed feeding the reindeer and Santa visit was magical. We were led by a dwarf through woods, the trees sparkling with lights to a log cabin. It was furnished as if he had lived there forever and was so sweet to the children, gifts were good too. We had a yummy meal in the buffte. No queues and loads of choice although I did think my grandson's pudding of apple pie over which he poured chocolate fondue a bit weird he ate it all and we were all full to bursting when we left. A nice bottle of Pinot Grigio was only £12.50 a special offer. There was so much entertainment laid on we couldn't see it all although the bar area either needed more seats or to be in a larger area. We saw Ice Age 4 which was good. Next day in the water park was fun. Changing rooms were clean and lots of them. The young staff throughout our stay were amazingly good humoured given how hard they worked. Sadly they were kept busy in the water park picking up rubbish dropped by visitors! I would definitely go again.

Room Tip: Second floor is convenient for most things Even numbers look out onto grassy slope, don't know a...
