“again, absolutely amazing-especially ice age room”
Reviewed October 6, 2012

Hotel is lovely, inside and out. I booked the Ice Age Themed room for first night and a normal family room for second night.
ICE AGE ROOM
WOW WOW WOW, you get your own personal parking space with your name on it. We were given a goodie bag, with controllers for x box and tv, as well as Ice age dvds and games for x box. The room is amazing, there is so much detail in it. From noises when open bathroom door, to the treasure hunt to get a prize from the safe. Room even has a fridge built in to the desk. And personal tv and dvds in the bunk beds. Was gutted to leave and go to a normal room
FAMILY ROOM
Family room was lovely, but the pull out sofa bed led a lot to be desired. Wasn't very comfy at all. But the room was noce, very clean, and lots of space.
Because we booked themed room, we were given some fast track tickets for theme park for each of us, for 2 days. And as long as buy waterpark tickets, you can have unlimited access over stay.
Was amazing, all the staff were lovely, especially our poor waiter in Flambos restaurant, who has unfortunate task of trying to move us from table.
Another great holiday.

Room Tip: ice age rooms are amazing, must experiance!!!

Travelled down with wife and 8 year old son for 2 nights and with 2 days passes to the park.

The hotel is clean, colourful and right by the monorail to get you into the park which is all good.

Problem is there's not much in the hotel. The park closes at 5.00 so with a walk back to the hotel (or queue for the monorail) you're back by 5.30. You have a choice of restaurants, all you can eat in Splash Landings or a la carte at the Alton Towers Hotel. Neither offered the greatest quality of food and both were expensive for what they provide. £20 for an adult "all you can eat" may be good value for someone more interested in quantity than quantity though. The range of options seemed reasonable.

You can then spend some more money on the arcade games, spend some time in the bar or watch a film in your room. However the rooms aren't that big for a family of 3 to spend much time in. The bar's big and bland and not particularly inviting and the arcade games and the room they are in are the same uninviting cave as anywhere else.

The pool looks fantastic but closed at 6.00 and seemed expensive for what it offered. One of the attractions of the Disneyland Hotel by comparison was s basic pool but being able to have a swim in the evening something Splash Landings doesn't offer.

Would I stay again? No, for the costs involved somewhere else would offer more comfort and a better choice of food something I would appreciate after a full day at the park.

My husband and I stayed here for one night and got park tickets, water park tickets and breakfast included in our bargain price. We were very impressed with the staff and how they are willing to help. The rooms are clean and nice, and have a nautical theme which would be great for the kids. The waterpark is great fun for kids and adults, and its right near the monorail to get into the theme park. We also ate at the buffet restaurant which offered a hige variety of food and soft drinks and the breakfast was also a buffet style. Most impressed, especially for the price we paid. Would recommend and return again.

Room Tip: If you don't likebeing aroud young children then stay at the Alton Towers hotel instead, both ho...

Exceptional value of £99.00 for the night including free 1 day park tickets, breakfast and parking. Room was adequate for what we needed, didn't use the water park but it looked fun and really clean! Great having the park entry an hour before the day trippers! Breakfast was lovely and as good as what I'd expect in any good 4* hotel in the U.K with a full selection of cooked breakfast, cereals, muffins, juices, teas and coffees. Didn't have the evening meal option but the menu looked good although quite pricey, around £14.00 for burger and chips! There are also drinks dispensers on each floor which is handy as we arrived without a drink to hand.

Overall a great stay, staff very friendly and great great value - Go and enjoy!

We paid £99 for an overnight stay with breakfast and 2 theme park tickets and quite frankly, if we had paid any more for it we would have been rather upset. The staff were very friendly and helpful although being asked the same questions by ALL of the staff everytime you see someone "have you enjoyed your stay so far" gets a little tiring and starts to feel unnatural they have probably been told to say that and it shows.

The room itself felt small and cheap, the bathroom was hardly big enough to swing a cat in and the bath was FAR too small for any adult to fit into. We had to use the shower and couldnt get it very hot at all? Not sure if this was a health and safetly thing? Although the room looked clean, there was a weird smell about it as if it hadnt been cleaned thoroughly. We were unable to use the feedback sheet as the last guests sheet was still in the room! They obviously take alot of notice of those then!

The noise from other guests was awful, kids being left to run riot late at night up and down the corridors, and adults also seemingly having no courtesy for other guests trying to sleep. As someone below already stated, if you are a couple with no children or want a nice relaxing stay after a busy day at the park then this hotel is DEFINATELY not for you.

The Alton Towers hotel is much nicer and more adult orientated, we went over there for dinner at the Secret Garden restuarant which was nice but very pricey for what you got and still had a kind of canteen feel about it considering it was sold to us as an A la carte restaurant? Wooden seats which were too close together and terrible lighting, with the same loud music as the bar? It could have been so much nicer but the whole restaurant has been wrongly designed.

In our opinion we would have much preferred to stay at this hotel but wasnt given the option when booking for the £99 deal. Shame. Why are adults without children being charged more??

Definately wouldnt pay full price for either hotel or park but most people know that these days and go for the deals.

Room Tip: Wait until you see deals before you pay FULL price for hotels and park! DO NOT pay FULL price as you...

The hotel is ideal if you are staying with kids, the rooms are ok with a small double bed and bunk beds.
The breakfast is buffet style so a bit of a free for all, dinner in the Secret Garden restaurant ( in the Alton Towers Hotel) was tasty but expensive.
We chose this hotel for location and it served its purpose being right next for to the monorail into the theme park , handy when you have a toddler and a baby.
It ended up being quite an expensive mini break overall so perhaps one that won't be repeated too often.

Bedrooms, clean, tidy and well presented. I paid £99 for a night inc breakfast and park entry for 2 people - this is about right for what you get at Splash landings hotel. Any more and I wouldn't have been impressed.

This is a family resort, so for a quiet weekend away for adults, unless you enjoy the sounds of children running around the corridors until late at night, and from 7am in the morning, this place isn't for you.

I can't help but think that the entertainment in the splash bar is terrible. Whilst it probably does what its set out to do, it looks so cheap and pontins like. A member of staff with "entertainment" on the back of her shirt playing music with some flashly lights really doesn't look right, especially when a solo child thinks they are britney spears on the stage. You can't help but think that if you look in the wrong place, you could get locked up!! (if you know what I mean) - there are kids everywhere!

This place is crying out for an "adults" only space, a quiet bar - no kids, some quality non canteen style dining would be perfect, but I always go down the road 1/2 a mile away to the Ye Olde Star Inn pub, the food in that place is amazing.

Room Tip: For bigger rooms and bigger bunk beds, always select the main Alton towers hotel.
