We had a lovely meal at the Blacksmiths Arms. The staff were very friendly, there was a good menu and the portions were very generous. One small negative was that my dessert looked 'bought in' rather than homemade which was a shame.

When we were in it wasn't that busy but it took a long time to get our meal once we ordered it. My meal was bland and tasted of nothing and my Husband said his tasted like it had been reheated more than once. There was a large family in beside us who were extremely noisy and kept swearing all the time and they started talking really loudly about something disgusting and then they let several small kids chuck a football around at the dining tables. None of the staff said a word to them and let them do what they wanted. I'm sure the rest of the diners were just as disgusted. Would never go back there again

We have eaten at the Blacksmiths Arms a number of times and have never been disappointed. This was the first time we tried out their accommodation however, and we were very impressed with both the room and the service. The room itself was clean and modern, with a nice en-suite bathroom with a decent shower. The breakfast was fantastic and the landlord insisted upon giving us a lift to Alton Towers rather than letting us get a taxi. We were really impressed with the place and we will definitely be back soon!

Not far from Alton Towers we googled and ended up here. Fab pub grub served with a smile and cheery chat, the portions were large and tasty. Garlic bread in a flower pot was amazing, my 9 year old loved making her pizza from scratch, getting it cooked them eating it!! The place itself was older worlde- all wood and China tea pots. Excellent value for money. Highly recommend

Decided on this place due to the reviews, and think our expectations were greater then the what we received. The service in fact was very good, however had to chase our drinks order otherwise it would not have appeared. The food was of an ok pub standard, I had the steak and ale pie, which was ok, the veg I am sure came out a tin, and the chips were well done, whilst my partner had the chilli, which was a good size. Overall not bad, but not sure I would rush there again
