stayed for 1 night as we wanted to visit a retailer nearby the following morning. This hotel is reasonable if its for 1 or maximum 2 nights, but I guess you wouldn't want to stay any longer. The rooms, like the service, are functional. The thing that struck us was how dull & unremarkable Wincanton was, with little to recommend it, especially if you want eat dinner anytime after 8.30pm during the week!

Friendly and helpful service on check in.
We were two couples and had adjoining rooms, one larger than the other, but both very comfy, with good beds.
Lovely full English breakfast, and we also had the Sunday carvery, which was very good.
Good value for money and would stay again.
Busy on Saturday night when we returned and quite noisy, but we were not disturbed as our bedrooms were at the back.

Good service in Bistro/Cafe and lovely food, even gluten-free options! Not easy checking in as there isn't an obvious reception area and checking both in and out had to wait for someone to appear. Great live music on the Saturday night. Good sized room. Fairly clean apart from huge cobwebs behind desk/console table (and wash basin). Only found this because I moved one of the lamps from the bedside cabinet to the table so I could use my laptop because as that corner was dark. Also had to swap chairs as the original one was too low to work at the table or to put make up on. Bed was very hard so not a comfortable sleep, could do with putting toppers on the bed ideally. TV was a bit too far from the bed to see well. I would say generally a good value for money room. If I was staying in that area again I would stay here but would hope that they improve the comfort of the beds.

We found the hotel to be quaint, clean and tidy. There were even sachets of hot chocolate in the room, not often found these days! The service was very good and the staff helpful and pleasant. There was live music on the Saturday evening and Pete got to have a drum session! Breakfast included local produce (the sausage was lovely), was not at all greasy and importantly served hot. Would definately stay there again if in the area. Rock on Pete!

We stayed here for two nights with family and found the hotel to be a little gem. The bedroom was spacious and the price very reasonable. We only dined for one night with our family, but found the meal delicious. The staff were exceptional and very accommodating. I would recommend the Dolphin.

My husband and I and our little boy stayed at the Dolphin Hotel for three nights as we were visting friends in nearby yeovil. I was slightly hesitant when reading the review from Janette R, however I am glad I decided to book as we had a very pleasant stay. Our accommodation was clean and had all the amenities we required. The bed was sooo comfy!! We had breakfast each morning and dined one night off the evening menu, the food was well cooked, nice size portions and very reasonably priced. The best part of our stay, was the great customer service we received. All the staff were very attentive and always ready to help. We met the Managers Peter and Millie, who we found to be a lovely couple and nothing is too much trouble. We have previously stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels, which in my opinion, do not have the same professionalism and customer service as the Dolphin. Hopefully we will be back next year.

Stay here often on business. Always good, bar staff friendly and Pete the landlord is great. Breakfast excellent. Great place to stay and if you like a bit of betting the locals always have plenty of advice on offer.
