Clean, bright airy, friendly staff, comfy bed, superb breakfast, brilliant town centre location
My (single) room was a little on the small side, but who wants to spend much time in their hotel room?
What else to say?

I had a very good night's sleep at this unpretentious and comfortable inn, with one of the best breakfasts I've had in a long time. I would definitely stay here again, and would also look forward to having a beer in the bar in before retiring upstairs.

We spent one night in the Dolphin and would definitely recommend it. The hotel is in the centre of Wincanton and very handy for the local area. The room we were staying in had recently been refurbished and had everything we needed; the staff were very helpful and friendly and the breakfast was superb. All in all it was excellent value for money.

Traveling back from Holiday and decided to stop half way home as we were tired and grouchy. Booked into the Dolphin the rooms were spotless and had everything that we could wish for. We decided to eat there too and was not disappointed the landlord and landlady I think there names were Milly and Pete could not have made us feel more welcome. Would definitely recommend and return for a long weekend. Thank you.

We stayed here recently en-route to the South West. It looks a little tired from the outside but our room had been re-vamped and had some nice touches.Bathroom had lovely white towels and a new shower although it was pretty compact. Our room was obviously over the kitchen and as the evening progressed unfortunately the cooking smell increased and it took a long while to clear - leaving the window open was not an option as it was outside as well. The bed wasn't to our liking - a bit too soft but it was clean and the breakfast next morning was pretty good so no complaints there .All in all it was ok for one night.

A very well run hotel in the rural town of Wincanton with easy access to all parts of the south west. This hotel is run by some very nice people, starting with the manager Peter whom I found to be very helpful indeed, nothing was too much to ensure I was comfortable. The small bistro downstairs is run by a very charming lady called Sandra who served the breakfast there and she also was really nice, even the two girls that cleaned the room were very friendly and charming. The chef ŵas excellent, so was the food and service. The room was ok with lovely thick fluffy towels it had it's own car park, so really you couldn't find anything to complain about. At this present time they are having a major renovation and the hotel looks lovely.
There was only one downside and that was some of the local regulars in the bar every evening were rather foul mouthed and loud and obnoxious, so I just avoided the bar.
All in all, a smashing hotel superbly run and I would recommend it to anyone.

Upon arrival, this place looks a bit run down. Its fairly basic as you enter the makeshift reception area. But what is surprising about this place is the lovely bedrooms, which are tastefully decorated, with nice touches - like the Teddy Bear you leave outside your door if you do not wish to be disturbed, and the lovely big fluffy bath towels in the showerrooms. Every bit of space is used in this fairly compact room. There was no wardrobe in our room, but a hanging area, which was more than adequate for a short stay. Tea making facilities and flat screen tv provided all your nice-to-haves. The breakfast was delicious, nice big fry up the following day. Again in a nicely decorated room. I would certainly recommend this place.
(Afraid the hotel lost a star when the waitress kicked the swinging door open from the kitchen outwards, taking the ear off my friend! Hmm...one for the Health & Safety folk as I'm sure it wasn't the first time this has happened :O/ )
