“Perfection on a plate”
Reviewed March 21, 2013

Traveling on business in the area we always look out for great restaurants and boy did we find one at The Montague Inn. The owner is a real character and knows how to make you feel welcome and special. The food is fantastic we have paid double their prices for food half as good. Tremendous value, really worth a visit, one of the best meals we have enjoyed in a long time, my wife never eats deserts but had to have one here.

Our only complaint is that they have no plans to open a restaurant in our home town.

“Great Food at Unbeatable Prices”
Reviewed March 20, 2013

Have been going to The Montague Inn off and on for the last 12 months for the friendly atmosphere and decent pints and can't believe I had never tried the famous "Simple Supper" until last night.

We were served a cracking mushroom soup for starters followed by pork, mustard mash and cider gravy. Presentation was Michelin star quality and all for only £10!

Will definitely be coming back for more.

“Wow!”
Reviewed March 8, 2013

Dropped in after racing at wincanton yesterday. Quite chilly after really good meeting. Lovely log fires, mine host a bit of a gas. showed us round, told us all about the pub. Brought out menus, all sounded delicious. Went & got the dog out of the car. He loved the log fire! Had delicious tomato and basil soup followed by fish cakes with superb veggies. My husband had rib eye steak as did a lovely couple sat near by who said they often visited & the food was always good. We'll be back - especially as they do an amazing deal for race days. Lovely room for parties & it must be pretty good outside in the better weather. Staff delightful.

“Perfect Balance”
Reviewed February 28, 2013

The owners have succeeded in the difficult balancing act of combining a real pub and an excellent restaurant. Warm welcome and warm log fires, friendly staff, excellent food and a relaxing bar area if you just want a drink. A large terrace with superb country views, perfect for the summer. It doesn't get any better than this.

“New Year's Eve and Sunday lunch”
Reviewed January 11, 2013

I recently stayed in the sleepy village of Shepton Montague with friends for a cosy country winter cottage holiday. We had good intentions of making our own meals but could not resist this pub. Sunday lunch we had in the private dining room, we felt very grown up ring to book this area. The meat on the roast beef was lean, tender lovely and pink, plenty of veg. I did not have dessert but everyone else did and they were positively family sized. We booked in for NYE and had the best night ever, beautiful meals, there was a singer belting out the old faves such as .. In the jungle the mighty jungle the lion sleeps tonight.. Cue conga dancing. I was unable to drink so watched longingly as my friends drank organic ciders and vintage Bollinger. I made do with fen tons old school pink lemonade and elderflower presse and soda. Best night out in ages, cannot wait to go back!
