“clean and comfortable room”
Reviewed September 18, 2012

One night stop over, The room was clean bright and of adequate size for our needs, the bed and pillows were amazingly comfortable, and the bed linen was crisp and clean. Stayed in to eat, my husband enjoyed his plaice and chips, i had pasta, it was ok, I'm vegetarian and never have much choice where ever i go, Hunters lodge was no exception, but that wouldn't stop me from staying again, everything else outweighed the lack of good food choice for me. The breakfast was good and my husband said it was well cooked, lovely girl serving the breakfast, very friendly and efficient.

I came here with my Grandparents the other day and we will definitely be returning soon.

I had nachos with wings, my grandma had a jacket potato with tuna, and my grandad had a burger. All the portions were huge and of superb quality. I’ve often found that some places will give you the minimum of everything and you can really tell, but here we left fully satisfied…and more. I had a huge plate of lovely nachos with cheese, as well as a very generous amount of cream dip, salsa and guacamole. There were easily 10 mini bbq flavoured wings there which again, were scrumptious. The prices were brilliant, and it is honestly the best value pub I’ve been to. My pub-experienced grandparents agreed to. The staff were lovely and with a round of drinks on top of our meal it came to under £40!!

Stayed here for one night, i was staying in The Inn part of the hotel. The room itself was perfectly fine, comfortable bed, clean and spacious. Bar was cool, food was good. The breakfast was great, lots on offer. Will stay again on my next trip to Wincanton.

A party of us stayed here for a short break and we all found the accommodation to be of a high standard. We were in the newish annex next to the Inn which made for a pleasantly quiet stay, far enough from the A303
We had a well equipped large four poster room(Room 4)with a nice bathroom(shower only) and a very comfortable bed
The breakfasts finished at 9am (on a Sunday !) which they explained is because they cater for over 200 Sunday meals, hence the unearthly hour. The food is very good & they get a lot of local trade.
I would certainly recommend a stay here & recommend room 4

We stayed here just for one night but everything was fine. The room is big and comfy, the bathroom was huge and the shower was very powerful. The staff is very friendly and breakfast was very good. Wi-fi runs all over the lodge.

Stayed 2 nights for a wedding in nearby Bruton.
Rooms were large, of reasonable quality and clean. However, our window didn't open properly and we baked in there for two nights. Our friends room next door - their bathroom heater was stuck on full, also making for a hot stay.
These things obvioulsy happen, but the owners response, should have been more attentive, they should have sent somebody down to look at both. Instead, in our case, they asked the cleaner to try and open the window, she couldn't, and that was that!
Food was on a par with a Chef and Brewer etc
Location was good. But some traffic noise being so close to A303
Staff pleasant

Thank you for your review.
I am sorry you were not entirely satisfied with your stay with us.
With regards to the window, i personally tried to fix it (and failed).
It was a case of it being open or closed. Unfortunately we were not able to get it fixed till the Monday.
We take great pride in our food and use locally sourced ingredients where possible. Our restaurant is extremely popular and would hope that we are a little better than a little chef.
Thank you again for your feedback.
