The cosy Hartnell's B&B is an ideal place for exploring Somerset which we did this summer holiay. Sue & Tony is a very nice couple which gave us the feeling of "being at home". The lovely historic cottage exudes a warm and cosy atmosphere.
Sue spoiled us every day with a delicious breakfast includung homemade jams, cakes, bread and fresh fruit from their garden. Furthrmore she furnished us with helpful information about the sights of the surrounding.
We would definitely recommend the Hartnells even for a longer stay. We stayed there for five nights which gave us the possiblity to have nice talks with Sue and Tony within which we got a lot of information about the country and the people who live there. That's what we like very much when travelling.

The Hartnell's B&B run by Sue & Tony is a really wonderful place to stay. We arrived late on a Saturday afternoon and had to rush off to a wedding, Sue, realising that we were running late very kindly printed off a local map and produced accurate written instructions which helped us get to the wedding just in time. This little act of kindness was symbolic of the excellent hospitality that was extended to us over the course of our 1 night stay. In addition to the room/bathroom being very nicely furnished our stay was topped off with a v tasty breakfast to ward off the post wedding hangover. I would recommend this B&B to anyone who visits this beautiful part of the country.

My wife and I stayed at Hartnell's for a two-night "mini-break". We wanted somewhere quiet but within reach of Minehead, and it proved to be an ideal choice. The historic building is very warm and comfortable, and we were made exceptionally welcome by Sue and Tony. The home-made cakes and choice of teas on arrival were very welcome, as was the breakfast, cooked from local ingredients and accompanied by fruit from the pretty garden outside. Definitely recommended!

This is a delightful B&B, the house is not only picturesque but comfortable, clean, tidy and carries some history. We were made very welcome, our rooms were well appointed and the breakfast was excellent. We would stay there again if we were in the area and would have no hesitation in recommending Hartnells to friends or relations.Having read the previous reviews in retrospect,we can agree all of their comments wholeheartedly.

Room Tip: The ground floor room has easy access and would be very suitable for the elderly or infirm.Traffic n...

My husband, myself and our 6 year old daughter stayed here in July 2011.
I cannot rate it highly enough.
Sue and Tony were ever so good with our daughter. Sue used to be a primary school teacher and it is obvious that she is comfortable with and tolerant of children. She was very good when our daughter read her a story and Sue heaped praise on her for her reading, which she absolutely loved.
Tony allowed our daughter to follow him around the garden and with utmost patience allowed her to talk at him non-stop.
There is a tree house in the garden, which our daughter could use (provided we accepted that it was at our own risk - no problem) and there is a huge field and playground behind the house. We even got to pick a few raspberries from their garden!
We got a whole wing of the house to ourselves, with our own bathroom, and our daughter was given a separate bedroom complete with home-made biscuits, toys and children's books.
The breakfast was absolutely amazing. It was the best tasting breakfast I have had in years. The eggs were top quality, the bread home-made, the orange juice freshly squeezed. I had more energy that day after that breakfast than I had had in months.
Very rare is it that I say I would re-visit a B&B but absolutely I would stay here again and indeed our daughter has already asked if we can go back one day.
Best get online and book soon then!

I am a wheelchair user (full time) and stayed at Hartnells for one night on a brief trip to the country for a break from busy London! Myself and my companion recieved a warm welcome on arrival and a portable ramp was provided to enter this delightful 400 year old beamed and thatched cottage. The ground floor room was very spacious and provided your wheelchair has an overall width of 26" (or less) then you will have few problems. The bathroom is plenty large enough to turn your wheelchair around with ease, however you would need to be able to stand to use the shower as it is a cubicle type with integral shower tray. The toilet bowl is quite low but I gather a riser is available if you need it (best to check with proprieter though!).The overall standard of the b&b was extremely high (beautifully clean and very characterful ) and the breakfast superb! Thank you for a happy stay! P.S. please note there are no grab handles in the bathroom at present.I was ok though as I have none at home and am used to life without them.

We enjoyed our stay in our first thatched B&B cottage.

Hosts: Sue and Tony welcomed us with delicious home made cake and coffee. They were very friendly, attentive and provided very helpful information regarding local sights (excellent tourist resources available)and even made restaurant reservations on our behalf.

Breakfast: We enjoyed an excellent breakfast with plenty of choice.
Rooms: We occupied two small upstairs rooms which were very clean and shared a bathroom. We also had access to a very comfortable guest sitting room.
We had one of the best meals of our 4 week holiday at the very old Century Dragon House Hotel in nearby Minehead.
