“Comfortable and a great welcome”
Reviewed August 16, 2010

First of all, Williton itself is a very convenient place for exploring North Somerset. Close to everything yet away from the crowds. Arden Cottage is set on a main route but a good distance back from the road, so the traffic is not a problem. Williton has a very good Indian restaurant and a couple of pubs that do average pub food, so its not a gastronomic paradise. There are eating places within a few miles, however.

Location apart - this is a fabulous old building, recently restored from almost dereliction and a lovely mix of ancient construction and modern facilities. A very comfortable place to stay despite indifferent weather. We were welcomed by Paul with a pot of tea in the Conservatory, our room was en-suite with a shower and the very large and comfortable bed was festooned with pillows. Jane's breakfasts were varied and freshly cooked to order and most acceptable especially as the produce was all local.

Could not fault the B&B at all and would certainly go back. Do not be put off by the 'dog friendly' description if you are not a dog owner - only charming well behaved dogs are allowed here!

Arden Cottage has everything: excellent service; beautiful, comfortable rooms; modern conveniences with an old- fashioned ambience: and it's easy to find! Jane and Paul could not be more welcoming, and if you should need someone who can offer Bowen Technique, then Jane is fully qualified. Once you are there you can visit the beach, the steam railway and some lovely villages in the countryside so there is plenty to do for adults, children (and your pet dog). The best thing about this cottage is that it is cosy and warm off-season (we went in winter) and the hosts couldn't do enough for us. The least likeable thing was leaving the place. We would happily recommend it and plan to visit again soon.

A warm welcome, very comfortable room and a fine breakfast with lots of local produce.

We were attending a wedding nearby and the host was more than willing to give us a lift to the venue.

Highly recommended.

This is a delightful thatched cottage with all qualities of a building built with uneaven floors and walls that are not straight. Our hosts go the extra mile to ensure that you are comfortable and relaxed, and you leave feeling that you are part of the family, and wanting to come back soon.

Dog friendly can mean many things, but from the moment we arrived it was obvious Jane had a natural welcome for people and dogs. A beautiful thatched cottage, the most natural and genuine of welcomes, breakfast cooked on the Aga and prepared to go out of her way for 'well-behaved' people and pets, even treating an ankle twist I unfortunately did.
Great location and Jane will suggest places to visit and eat based on her experience. 5 stars no question!

The service was faultless, Jane and Paul who run the B&B were very accomodating (we have 2 young children). The atmosphere is very relaxed and the rooms were all clean and very cosy. The cooked breakfasts were the best we had ever had - all fresh and cooked in the aga - Jane's homemade granola is delicious! Jane and Paul know the area well and were a great source of local information.

I stayed at Arden Cottage for a night whilst attending a wedding at the nearby St. Audries Park and I am so glad I did! The cottage is just lovely, with very quirky rooms which are decorated beautifully. My partner and I stayed in the super king size room and had access to our own private shower room. We found the whole experience was just so relaxing and luxurious- just what we needed to unwind after a busy day. I was also very impressed with breakfast, we had a full English cooked to order on an Aga oven as well as things such as fruit, museli and cereal, I was even made a fruit smoothie which was delicious. But the best thing about the stay was Jane and Paul who really are supurb hosts! They are informative, funny and make you feel right at home, nothing is too much trouble. I cannot wait to book a return visit!
