“Dog and people paradise!”
Reviewed July 29, 2013

We arrived tired and dishevelled, a party of 5 plus 2 dogs, having spent the previous six hours stuck in traffic jams - it was the first day of the school summer holidays. The gate shut behind us and we found ourselves in a wonderful, secure garden; cake and tea arrived and we immediately started to relax. The dogs were in heaven - a large, safe garden with nothing off-limits. It was as if we had arrived to stay with old friends; the house felt like home and we were confident that we could come and go as we pleased. Our two large dogs enjoyed the attention that both Jane and Paul so freely gave, and were happy to be looked after by them while we went to a wedding on the second of our 3 night visit. They especially enjoyed the breakfast titbits they were offered.
Meanwhile, the rest of us delighted in all that the other reviewers have highlighted - large comfortable beds, smoothies and gargantuan breakfasts, idyllic historic cottage with wisteria outside the bedroom windows - the list is endless. The most striking memory I have is the very genuine interest and attentive concern shown by Paul and Jane. Our stay was more like the best house party rather than the more usual B & B experience. We will definitely be back to enjoy the opportunity to explore this part of the country further, and to visit what is a very special place.

Thank you for your kind and generous review of your stay at Arden Cottage. We shall also remember it with fondness as it was a treat to have people in the house who appreciated what we try and achieve here, which is a real 'home from home' experience for all concerned.

Your family were fun and we found Amy and Molly (your dogs) well-behaved and a pleasure to have around.

We shall look forward to you coming to stay with us again.

We stayed at the Arden Cottage 19th-21st July to free up our house for family visiting to attend our 20th Wedding Anniversary. We had friends staying there too and we arrived at the same time, with our dog, to be greeted with refreshing drinks and Jane's lemon drizzle cake. We went up to our rooms which were beautiful. The attention to detail is un-matched. Facial wipes and make-up remover provided as well as other usually forgotten toiletries. Beds are incredibly comfortable and breakfast is very good - the smoothies are the perfect start to the day.
Jane and Paul were extremely accommodating as the make-up girl and the hairdresser turned up to pamper myself and my Maid of Honour.
Luckily is was just us and our friends staying as we did take over the place a bit. Our dog was made to feel at home and was totally spoilt at breakfast. Absolutely perfect place to stay...it maybe on the main road but you would never know, especially if you are sat in the glorious garden.
Lovely touch from Jane and Paul in giving us a card and flowers. If we didn't live a mile away I'd say we'd be back soon............maybe just treat ourselves!!

Thank you very much for your kind review and for choosing to spend your wedding weekend here at Arden Cottage.

We enjoyed all the wedding preparations taking place in the house and to watch you get married on Blue Anchor beach on the most glorious sunny day.

We hope you enjoy your married life together.

A beautiful house and Gardens. Paul and Jane made us feel right at home. Always a great cup of tea on offer. They made our big dog Henry feel happy and relaxed and was free to be himself. If your looking for a B&B to take your dog this is perfect. We will definitely be going back.

It was lovely to meet you both and Henry (the Ridgeback cross Mastiff) was just a big gentle giant (we hardly knew he was there)!

We are pleased that you enjoyed your weekend, that was bought as a gift for you, and look forward to your return, as we felt we'd made some new friends by the time you left.

Arden Cottage was absolutely perfect for our walking break with our dog. He was made to feel especially welcome, Jane and Paul even provided playmates for him and a safe garden for him to enjoy. The cottage is charming and the atmosphere is relaxed and convivial. Our room was lovely with some nice extra touches - slippers and dressing gown supplied, biscuits and of course doggy treats. The bed was huge, the duvet warm and there were loads of fluffy pillows. Jane and Paul know the local area well and were able to recommend where to eat and where to walk – they had a couple of excellent walking books which we borrowed to complement our maps. It was nice to feel really at home with no areas off limits. Breakfast is served around a big table so it lends itself to camaraderie among the guests, and Jane’s smoothies are worth the trip by themselves! We had a fantastic time and hope to return, maybe in the summer when the dog is allowed off lead on the hills and the heather is in bloom. PS I have no problem with the request for an arrival time – this is a privately run B&B and not a fully-staffed hotel, the personal touch is appreciated.

Hello to you both. It was lovely to receive your review and to hear that you all enjoyed your stay with us. Moose certainly enjoyed playing with the other doggy companions as you said. It was fun watching them play in the garden.

It always reassures us to read our Guests comments on how we do things at Arden Cottage and we appreciate your views and thoughts.

We look forward to seeing you again in the future.

We live locally but always recommend Arden Cottages to our visitors. Over the last five years many friends and relatives have stayed here at our recommendation and none have been dissapointed. All receive a very warm welcome from Jane and Paul. Within a very short distance of the shops and pubs in Williton

Thank you for writing this review for us and for recommending Arden Cottage to your friends and relatives who come to visit you.

We are always pleased to hear that locals in the village are happy to recommend us and that no one has been disappointed. Like you say Williton is ideally situated for the local shops and pubs where good produce can be purchased to take home as a reminder of their stay.

This was my first visit to Williton and Watchet and what a fantastic welcome from Paul and Jane to start off my short weekend stay. Arrived slightly later than the agreed time but was still greeted with a very warm welcome, which included a much needed cup of tea and a lovely slice of home-made cake. The cottage is absolutely lovely with secure off road parking. The breakfast choice was amazing and the atmosphere very relaxed and welcoming. If I have the oppotunity to visit this area again I will definitely be hoping Paul and Jane have a vacancy.

Our first stay at Arden Cottage. I doubt it will be our last.
It has been said before, we re-iterate, that Paul and Jane were wonderful hosts. An extremely warm welcome greeted us with tea and cakes, and remained this way throughout our stay.
A wonderfully comfortable room with everything you could ask for. A proper kettle and decent size cups. A huge and comfortable bed, a lovely en-suite with a fabulous shower. All set in a stunning thatched cottage. The garden was ample in size for our ample dog Alfie (Border Collie). (Fatter now for the breakfast titbits)!!!! He didn't want to come home, but neither did we. We enjoyed a wonderful breakfast too. Great accommodation to explore this beautiful part of England. The hosts were very knowledgeable about the area.
Thank you Paul and Jane for your lovely hospitality and company.
