“Great value - happily go again.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 17, 2012

I don't recognise the place from some of the reviews here. Spent the weekend, the room was clean and tidy, very comfortable bed, flat screen TV with all channels working, clean bright bathroom, loads of hot water. Coffee making, cups replaced clean each day, coffee etc replenished. Food EXCELLENT, all of the staff very friendly and accommodating. Went for a swim, very enjoyable. All in all very good facilities at a very reasonable price. Would happily visit again if in the area.

Have just returned from a weekend in the Laburnum Lodge Hotel with my Christian choir from Gloucester. Overall it was excellent - wide variety of choice of food, great carvery Sunday lunch, good choice of food for cooked breakfasts and evening meals. Good bar service. The room was pleasant to sleep in as well. Good facilities, TV, en-suite bathroom, coffee-making facilities, etc. Hope to return there maybe in 2 years' time on another Choir weekend.

My partner and I stayed here for one night only. On first impressions the place looked deserted and there was no one around and we thought we were possibly the only ones staying. Even tumbleweed was rolling down the road (they had just cut the grass). The room we had was very comfortable and clean. There was a bit of a musty smell on first arriving but soon disappeared with a few squirts of perfume. The hotel is a typical motel style with chalets. The swimming pool looked nice although it was very cold. Breakfast was fabulous apart from the fact you had to find yourself a seat and there wasnt really any staff around to let you know what to do. We eventually gathered it was a buffet service and to be honest I was very impressed. The coffee and tea was a bit naff but the help yourself cooked breakfast was fabulous. All in all we found it very nice just lacked a pit of the personal touch by the staff. Would definitely stay again in the future though.

The Hotel IS A PUB with little bungalows as the room accomodation, they smell old damp, but clean enough, maybe put blinds in rooms instead of net curtains containing spiders eggs.

The breakfast cant fault really, a self service variety, standard egg bacon ect.Again maybe put the tea and cerials along the back wall where the self service breakfast is as you have to walk backwards and forwards to get you tea and toast and juices.

The bar was ok for an eveing night cap.friendly chap behind the bar.

We stayed just the one night .....that was enough for myself .

No one on recieption as we departed

Room Tip: cheap and cheerfull enought booked through laterooms dot com.

We picked this accommodation knowing it would be a budget double room and we weren't expecting any kind of luxury but we were expecting the rooms to be clean at the very least! We arrived at the hotel after previously checking that we had rooms with ensuites as some don't to be told that one did and one didn't and if we wanted to upgrade we would have to pay extra! The solution was to put us in their overflow house which all had ensuites and we were told the rooms were of the same standard! Driving up to the house it looked lovely from the outside, the inside was a completely different story! There were cob webs in the corners of most of the ceilings, the whole house smelt musty and obviously had not been cleaned! There were stains all over the floors, no hot water, dust and cob webs everywhere, the fire alarms were all open and didn't look like they were working, there was mould on the ceilings, mouse traps behind the sinks and the beds and to top it all off the morning we were leaving after reluctantly staying here my friend flushed the toilet in her room after thank fully only releasing her bladder and water started spurting out of the bottom of the toilet all over her and the floor! We told the man for him to turn around and say 'don't worry these things happen, it's not your fault! ' knowing we were not going to get anywhere with this man who was the hotel manager, we left and will never ever ever be going back there again! I do not and have not ever written a review before but I felt this was absolutely necessary on this occasion!

booked through tripadvisor for 1 night {thankfully} a bit taken aback at the look of the place very hard to describe it possibly sheltered accommodation at some point in its life? anyway i digress wife went to reception to check in i could see by the look on her face that something was up .asked her what was wrong she said the barman--receptionist totally ignored her and walked off when she asked to check in. she told me the woman who owned the place checked her in and told her he was a miserable sod at the best of times .sorry but thats no excuse at all. anyway went into the room was shocked at the amount of wildlife [insects]dead and alive in the room .my 9yr old daughter has a phobia about creepy crawlies so she had to stay outside whilst i played rentokill and removed the crawlies .tv did not pick up the channels very well aerial cable not connected tv properly.room smelt of damp, bathroom & toilet smelly and dirty .later on my daughter asked me why the beds were so hard she was,nt kidding .had a fitfull nights sleep woke up at 3am and waited for dawn to break.the only good thing about this place was the breakfast no complaints what so ever .

I would advise that you be wary when booking accomodation at this hotel. travelling in the Uk from Australia I booked four nights accomodatioin at 24 hours notice. The hotel came up during a search as being near Corfe. I did not know that this hotel was many miles from Corfe Castle in dorset which was where I required accomodation. Cancellation would only be granted with 7 days notice - bit hard when you book the day before, so I had to pay for four nights which I could not use. I was more than willing to pay for the first night but unhappy to have to pay for 4 nights. I hope this gentleman finds himself in the same situation at some time when he is travelling out of the UK. A little understanding from him in my time of distress at being lost would have gone a long way. Who needs to travel another 2 -3 hours on top of a long day and then do that to and from a destination for 4 days?

Room Tip: book else where
