We stayed on a deal for 1 night with the 5 course taster dinner.
We upgraded to the South East room for £50, our friends stayed in the standard room.
The difference was small. We had a sitting room , however it was so cold that we couldn't use it.
Breakfast was excellent - couldn't fault it.
Dinner was a little disappointing. We paid £35 for the taster wines with each curse which we enjoyed. Portions are small but beautifully presented. The steak, for the main course was tiny and tough. Neither of us could eat it. The chef sent out a sorbet as compensation!!
I suspect it is lovely in the summer. It was very cold when we were there and the heating in the bedroom was inadequate and the lighting vey dim. WiFi was rather difficult to obtain although free.
Overall a great stay but hopefully the new owners will add the finishing touches

Room Tip: South East not worth the extra!

We stayed here for a two day New Year break and chose this hotel as it seemed a place where we could totally relax after an anticipated hectic Christmas. We were not disappointed.

When we arrived we the hotel greeted us by name and took us straight to our room. The sheer beauty of the house and our room took my breath away. I later realised we had been upgraded to a 'state' room hence the wonderful Chippendale furniture and 4-poster bed. There was a slight rain penetration problem with the bathroom window, but this took nothing away from the surroundings and the enjoyment of being in this stunningly beautiful house.

That evening we had dinner in the drawing room, sat on sofas in front of the roaring fire, served by the most charming lovely staff who went out of their way to make us feel special. The Hungarian fellow, was a delight, taught me how to open our champagne with a sabrage, and attended our every need with humour.

We were there for the New Years Eve dinner and celebrations, which I did not enjoy as much as the previous night (how could anything exceed that anyway), as the evening lacked vibrancy and the staff struggled slightly. Our canapes did not arrive before we were ushered into an empty dining area, and being mischievous (I blame it on the champagne) we went back into the reception room to hunt some down! Later the coffee also had to be sought, but all in all it was a good night and we both enjoyed it very much.

Sadly we had to leave, having really relaxed beyond expectation, with promises between ourselves that we would return in the summer to luxuriate in the arms of this exceptional property.

Room Tip: If you can afford it go for the 'state' rooms!

I spent New Year 2012/13 with my husband and 4 friends at this hotel. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by charming, polite and efficient staff. All our rooms were spotless, stylish and comfortable, filled with antique furniture. All the public rooms were beautifully decorated and furnished and, again, very comfortable. The food at Ston Easton Park is delicious and wonderfully cooked and presented. The service at the hotel can not be faulted. It reminded me of the sort of very best service you receive in quality hotels in Europe where service is valued and trained for. At all times staff were attentive and discrete and remembered the special requirements of members of our party, obviously passing relevant details between staff on different shifts. The bill for our groups New Years drinks was even divided equally between our bills without us having to ask. If you want a real treat, this hotel is ideal and worth every penny!

Stayed here on an excellent value deal. The food was outstanding and the hotel is very comfortable. Especially the beds!
We had excellent service in all areas of the hotel.
We loved being the only people there- it being pre Christmas-and would definitely like to stay again!
The 5 course taster menu was the best we've had for a very long time-well done to the relatively new chef!!
We shall be back! 25 years since we stayed before!

We were fortunate to find a one off deal on a night here with dinner. We were even luckier to be upgraded to the 'master' bedroom. It was pretty wonderful. The best things: a walk around the lovely park, the kind and charming staff, supremely comfortable bed, the view from our bedroom, lovely oil paintings everywhere, nice real fires and welcoming warmth throughout in winter, brilliant breakfast, especially the best home made marmalade, and lovely scrambled egg and black pudding. If I were to suggest improvements I thought the lights were rather dim, the wifi patchy and slow and dinner portions on the small side. The wine list contained wines from about £17 a bottle, which I thought was good - but the one we chose wasn't great. The very helpful Hungarian wine waiter had initially suggested a bottle of Sauvignon at £39, and we changed to that. It was worth the difference. The master bedroom was rather masculine in furnishings, but was massive with a huge four poster, lovely double outlook and matchless views.
The house is a real beauty. A mansion. It is well kept but feels lived in rather than preserved in aspic. The staff spoilt us, but the atmosphere was friendly, not stilted or hushed. Top tip: make sure you walk around the garden and park. Lots of lovely country hereabouts, too.

A wonderful country hotel in a wonderful position...Very friendly and proper professional service. We had a De Luxe room which is what it was...The taster meal was superb and the al a carte was excellent but cost £50 per head..Wine was reasonably priced for this class of hotel.Discovering all the old rooms in the basement was really enjoyable..The lounges were very comfortable with lovely log fires. The wonderful city of Wells is just a short drive away and well worth a visit...I can't wait to return.
