Description: The kitchen team are in all day and producing snacks as well as 3 course meals. You can eat anywhere you like and there is a wide selection of hot food available throughout the day. Children are also very welcome and we do a small menu for them or can offer cut down versions off the main menu. The menu is fresh, simple, local and special. Working with some exceptional local suppliers, the team’s aim is to demonstrate just how good West Country food can be.

Great hotel/pub with rooms in the lovely, quiet town of Somerton. The pub has been recently refurbished and the attention to detail is spot on. Think Farrow and Ball colour schemes and crisp white sheets and you'll get the picture...As another reviewer has mentioned, the beds are incredibly comfortable and very inviting.
We visited the pub on a Sunday and it's exactly the kind of place you could easily while away the hours in the quiet bar with the paper and a pint. Although they do a limited menu on a Sunday evening, we had no complaints as the food was excellent and the staff extremely helpful.
I must also mention the breakfast which was, quite simply amazing. You may have missed them now as the pub only serves seasonal dishes, but the strawberries with vanilla yoghurt and muesli was one the nicest things I have ever eaten.
Highly recommended!

Great meal with super service - very impressed particularly with the imaginative menu using locally sourced ingredients.
Not cheap but perfect for that special night out.

Lovely place to eat, cosy, friendly efficient staff very nice menu. When we ordered an Irish coffee the young waiter said he wasn't happy that the cream wasn't floating so he replaced them with two new ones.
Thought this response reflected the excellent service

Having reviewed this restaurant in early August, a few weeks after opening, and giving it the benefit of the doubt a second visit has seen no improvement.
The menu has lost its balance and with only one vegetarian starter, no vegetarian sharing dish and one main dish falls well short of acceptable for non-meat eaters.
This however is insignificant compared to the woefully slow and poor service. One hour and fifteen minutes from ordering to serving the main course is simply not acceptable. It is not the fault of the serving staff and is not the fault of the kitchen. It is caused simply by having too few staff in both of those areas compared to the number of covers.
This pressure has seen the quality of food suffer and therefore the value has fallen appreciably.
An offered reduction of 20% off the bill was a positive gesture but can never compensate for a good meal, well served in a pleasant atmosphere.

My exerience of both the food & the staff was really positive. The menu prides itself on being locally sourced & very seasonal & that was reflected in the food I ate. I had the lambs liver as a starter which had very subtle flavours & was extremely tender. The mackerel for main couse was served with beetroot giving the dish a level of sweetness which was just right. THe team were brilliant & were obviously very enthusiastic about working in the restaurant. I would defintely recommend eating here.
