Description: Relax and unwind while you enjoy the stunning views from our peaceful bedrooms, and outside dining area. The seasonal views of the Valley and Moors are breathtaking (the coastal mist adds real magic to the landscape). Lush green in the spring and summer and full of character and action in autumn and winter. Partridge, pheasant and deer are our companions in the milder months. Staying at The Culbone is a great way to experience life on Exmoor.

“Good value, nice atmosphere, friendly staff”
Reviewed July 3, 2014

We eat (fairly) regularly at the Culbone, and find it consistently good value for money with a welcoming atmosphere. Mark and his team will always try that bit harder to make your meal that bit special. They will go out of their way to offer deals (we stayed there on our wedding anniversary, and Becky, Mark's daughter, gave us a discounted room so that we could enjoy the evening with a drink and sent a glass of fizzy to our table on the house). They always listen to any criticisms and make changes to suit their customers, not themselves). The decor is nice, the food always to a good standard and the wine list won't add any nasty surprises to your bill. Oh, they'll let you bring your dogs as well ! All in all, if you're in the area, drop in for a meal - you won't be disappointed.

“Fantastic break!”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

My husband, my dog and I have just got back from a three night stay at The Culbone.
We had room number one with the best view and private patio.
An amazing room and such a huge bathroom! It was lovely to have double doors opening from the bedroom onto the patio. There was also a bench type table and chairs.
Staff are so welcoming and very friendly.
My husband is very fussy with his food, so we decided to eat out each night, but found out just this morning (when we were checking out) that they would have accommodated for his taste, so it was unfortunate that we didn't know this.
Breakfast was amazing! So so tasty!
THEY LOVE DOGS!!!!! :))

“After 40 years, it's even greater”
Reviewed July 2, 2014

We've been visiting Exmoor for nigh on 40 years and, over that time, have frequently visited the Culbone Inn (as it was) as well. After a slightly longer absence than usual we returned to find "The Culbone" and, with slight trepidation, we stopped for lunch.

The welcome was really warm, the food delicious and the service excellent. We truly could not have asked for better.

We are now juggling diaries around an anticipated family event in the hope of being able to return soon for a short break.

“Great potential, lacks attention to detail.”
Reviewed June 30, 2014

We stayed at The Culbone for a short midweek break on a bed and breakfast basis. On arrival we were greeted by the owner and her partner who proceeded to show us to our room, they were very friendly and helpful and continued to be throughout our stay. The room was OK, a little tired in terms of the decor and the shower had mould. The room had doors that opened out onto a patio area offering vast ranging views across Exmoor which I must admit were fabulous. The external grounds and seating areas were very well kept and offered the same aforementioned views. The bar and dining area was pleasant with reasonably priced drinks. Breakfast was disappointing, on the first morning there weren't any mushrooms because the delivery hadn't arrived then on the second morning the bacon delivery hadn't turned up. It obviously didn't occur to the staff to pop to Porlock and buy some! From an establishment that prides themselves on their food service I considered this unsatisfactory, however the breakfast that was served up was of high quality and very nice indeed. Evening meals were well presented and really well cooked, if I lived locally I would defiantly go there to eat again.

In summary the guys running/owning this establishment really deserve to do well as the passion and effort they contribute to this business is outstanding. The location is truly awe inspiring which is what contributed to the 'very good' rating. The Culbone has the potential to become an excellent venue, it just needs freshening up.

“Excellent time! Great food and incredibly friendly staff!”

Had a great time! Did not stay at the Culbone but went for dinner twice. The food is delicious, however, the service a bit slow. Other than that, everything was fantastic!
