Why bother with flight delays, sheep pens, lost luggage and jet lag. A rest away from it all in this beautifully kept site is the best holiday anyone can need. The faciities are kept spotless, the staff always helpful and friendly and the surrounding area just beautiful. There are so many superb places to walk to. Please do not moan about the rules, they are necessary to keep such a high standard.

We have just returned from a another truly great time at Porlock Caravan and Camping Park. This is truly one of the best caravan sites in the UK - anyone who thinks otherwise obviously do not appreciate the importance of quality, cleanliness, peace and quiet and complete overall good management. OK there are rules - but how otherwise can standards be maintained? Thank you Sue and Ray - we look forward to coming back again to Porlock probably early next year.

Last minute trip to Porlock and we couldn't have been happier with this site. The staff were friendly and helpful and the facilities immaculate. Yes, there are rules and I didn't like the assertion that a problem with a dog will ALWAYS be considered as the dogs fault, but rules are sometimes necessary to ensure that everyone has a peaceful time. The site is very, very quiet and the location is fantastic. We will return.

Firstly, the site is very clean and well maintained and the location is excellent. Porlock itself is a lovely place and everyone was very welcoming in every shop, pub, cafe we went into.

Unfortunately the site had rules for everything which turned what was supposed to be a chilled weekend into something quite different. My partner and I felt like naughty school children. On arrival we were given a list of site rules but in case we didn't read them they were laminated and placed all over the site on anything that didn't move.

We pitched our tent on the rally field but it was a fair trek to the toilet and shower blocks, especially in the middle of the night. There were portaloos sited in the field but I really don't like using them. We went without our children and I'm glad we did as they would have been very stifled, it really isn't child friendly.

Would we return? To Porlock definitely but not to this site.

This site is excellently maintained, infact one of the best we have stayed on (and we have stayed on a few!!!!) Toilets and showers are spotless, wash up area again spotless and the general grounds are maintained to the highest standard.

However, the owner was rather rude in her manner. When asking upon arrival how much per night it was, she bit my head off with her response and once we pitched, she came storming over to us saying that our canopy on our awning was stretching over onto the other pitch and would need to be taken down as this is where our neighbours would park their car if the pitch was booked out!!! We would not have been able to come out of our awning door had this been the case!!! I explained that if the time came and the pitch was booked out then we would happily let down our canopy!!! Of course it wasn't!

There are signs saying "no ball games", however as the pitches were booked out quite staggered, it did allow us to play bowls with the little uns, however we were always nervous that we may be in trouble with the owner!!

Porlock is a beautiful place and despite the rudeness of the owner, as a family I think we would go back, maybe trying out another site next time.
