Clare and Chris of The Cottage in Porlock High Street were very welcoming right from when we walked in. the room was a good size and had very comfortable beds (family room) and fluffy big duvets and huge white towels. The room was very clean and had lovely toiletries in the bathroom which smelt gorgeous, the power shower was very powerful and hot. Breakfast was delicious and we were offered a variety of coffees and teas. The guest lounge had luxurious sofas that swallowed you up and wifi was available from there too.
thank you for our break, we will certainly be revisiting after our 2 night stay. And we saw the exmoor ponies and the sea and blue sky.... What more could you ask for!

I picked this b&b from the Porlock tourist board site, and I was pleased indeed. Very pleasant hosts, made me instantly welcome and comfortable. The Cottage is a great example of a good B&B, run smoothly and the property is very well kept. Good size en-suite bedroom with the odd creaky floorboard (something would be wrong without a creaky floorboard!), no outside noises even though my bedroom was at the front, a very good nights sleep.
As for the Breakfast - this was a full English with all associated juices & cereals etc., up to an excellent standard. I was stuffed all day afterwards. I was only there for one night but I doubt you will find better. The area is very pleasant, and it seems there are plenty of places to eat and drink. I would certainly book again, and would recommend to others without reserve.

We stumbled across The Cottage whilst looking for an overnight stay as part of our tour around the West Country and we were not disppointed. The B&B is extremely well run and the owners, John and Angela, are both very welcoming and friendly. It's a lovely building with very well furnished and very clean rooms. The breakfast was really tasty. Although we only spent a night there, Porlock seemed charming with a choice of nice places to eat - pubs and restaurants.

I wanted to have 1 night away to celebrate by girlfriend's birthday. I was a bit nervious in case I booked something less than perfect. I need not have worried. Both Angela and John are charming. The Cottage is lovely. Nice decor throughout. Breakfast is superb. You really won't find a better B&B. Location is great too - right opposite a great restaurant/pub. And another 2 to choose from within 2 minutes walk. Look no further, just book it!

This was our second visit after being recommended originally by our daughter and son-in-law. John and Angela who own The Cottage are a very friendly and welcoming couple who obviously know the best way to run an efficient B&B. The cottage itself is delightfully furnished and decorated throughout. A warm and friendly welcome is guarranteed as is a genuine interest in guests welfare and comfort. Breakfast is all encompasing, from cereals, fruit salad (made freshly every morning by Angela). Full English Breakfast is available too, comprising locally sourced eggs, bacon, sausage, mushrooms and tomato. To accompany toast (brown or white) is an assortment of locally made jams. I urge you to try the Whortleberry, quite delicious - we brought several jars back home with us! The locally blended tea by Miles is also excellent.
As mentioned earlier, this was our second visit in two years and we would book again with no hesitation.
