“A Great Experience - we loved Rose Bank”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2014

We spent three nights at Rose Bank and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It's not easy finding a B+B that can (and wants!) to accommodate 2 adults, 3 children and a dog but we found a warm welcome from John and Elaine. We had room 3, a family room on the top floor which had 2 double beds (which may have been king size I'm not sure) and a large couch with an extra duvet which one of our children slept on. The beds were very comfy and the room was well appointed. We were looked after superbly from start to finish. John who is the 'front of house' is a great character and we enjoyed chatting with him, Elaine and the other guests. Breakfasts were lovely, you ordered your hot choices the night before and indicated what time you would like it, so it was always freshly cooked. I highly recommend the smoked haddock and scrambled egg, while my husband was delighted to see black pudding on the menu. We also had a lovely evening meal on one evening. The B + B is perfectly situated at the end of the High Street (with the fab Wortleberry Tea-Room next door). Overall, Rose Bank is a lovely, friendly place to stay and we would definitely return.

Booked three. rooms here for my husband, his sister and her husband and my husband's mother, so the they could enjoy a trip down memory lane, John and Elaine answered all my queries very fast and we were thrilled when they said that they could provided us evening meals and even allowed us to bring our dog along. when the first day of our holiday came some of our party got stuck in traffic ,thankfully John and Elaine were very understanding and even though they were late they still made to feel welcome and lovely meal was awaiting them.
The next morning we were greeted on first name basis and a lovely breakfast was a waiting us! I loved the attention to detail, No greasy joes at this place as Elaine cooks to a very high standard and every effort is made to make you feel welcome and comfortable.
The bedrooms have everything you need from shampoo to dressing gown and slippers and all rooms are nice and I have to say that the single room is very roomy! Normally in hotels and guest houses you have a few sachets of coffee milk etc so I alway bring my own but I really needed have
bothered as there was more than enough to satisfy . thank you John and Elaine for making the weekend special Sharon.

Room Tip: Single room is roomy and although there is no bar John will chill your wine for you!

Just back from a Group Walking weekend in Porlock and around. Our group 'took over' the Rose Bank for 3 nights. John and Elaine were excellent hosts, entertaining us with local tales and poems and providing the most wonderful breakfasts to energise us for our daily walks. Rooms were comfortable and everything we could have wanted - particularly liked the little toilet bag of 'goodies you might have forgotten to pack' made available to everyone. Would definitely recommend and stay there again. Keep it up ! Karen, and all in the Torbay Rambling Group.

Just returned from a 3 night break at Rosebank. John and Elaine are excellent hosts. We were made to feel very welcome. The room was comfortable and had absolutely everything we needed. My husband loved the rocking chairs in the large bay window. Just the place to sit with a glass of wine. The breakfast is on a par with an hotel. I could not believe the choices on the menu and it was cooked to perfection. We left with batteries re-charged and a lovely warm feeling which will linger long after our return home.

Just spent 2 nights at Rosebank with a group of friends. We wanted a base to go walking and this was absolutely ideal. The rooms were clean and comfy. John made sure we were well acquainted with everything on our arrival including the contents of a small toilet bag with little things we may have missed. ! We enjoyed two wonderful days walking and eating without taking the car out of the car park. The breakfast was amazing and the 'chiffonierre' laden with a lovely buffet. Porlock has much to recommend it and if we visit again Rosebank will be the top of our list to stay. Thankyou John and Elaine. Maybe next time John you can read your poem to us !!!

We booked giving John and Elaine little notice prior to some surgery. We always like to stay in our favourite room and John went out of his way to ensure that we were able to do so by asking other guests if they would mind moving rooms. Rose Bank is an excellent base for exploring Exmoor and the surrounding area and John and Elaine are wonderful hosts and the more one gets to know them they become more like part of the family. During our recent visit in April 2014 we had many laughs. The food is excellent and the service second to none. Rooms are very comfortable and every last detail is thought of in ensuring the comfort of their guests. We have no hesitation in recommending Rose bank Guest House and we shall certainly be returning there as soon as we are able.

Room Tip: We always like to look out over the High Street and watch the locals about their daily business.

Booked a short break with my mum who is in her 70s by way of a Christmas present. very glad we choose Rosebank. John and Elaine couldn't have been more helpful very knowledgeable and really welcoming. B and B was lovely, very nice accommodation with brilliant facilities in the room. Breakfast was very good as was dinner - but I am sorry John I was not too keen on the Whortleberry jam!
Would recommend Rosebank to anyone wanting a break in N Somerset, Porlock is a very sweet village and has easy access to Minehead, Dunster and beautiful Exmoor.

Room Tip: We did like the dual aspect windows.
