Description: Elegant 17th Century Inn located in a very peaceful location in one of the most beautiful villages in the West Country. Hinton St George is set in stunning rolling, typically English countryside on the borders of Somerset, Devon & Dorset. The Lord Poulett Arms has recently won numerous prestigious national awards including “Gastro Pub of the Year” from the Good Hotel Guide, & “National Dining Pub of the Year” in the Good Pub Guide & received superb reviews from every quality newspaper incl 9/10 for food & 9/10 service from The Sunday Times & “Best Sunday Lunch in the West Country” from The Observer. The Inn is furnished with taste & much of the furniture is antique. The quality of the food is the main draw to The Lord Poulett with it winning the Good Pub Guide “Somerset Dining Pub of the Year” in 2009, 2012, 2014 & 2015. The Inn has two gardens; one a French inspired knot garden with Wisteria covered pergola & Boules Piste & the other a typically English wild garden full of mistletoe covered apple tree’s, Hammocks & Love Seats & even a Five’s Wall (the forerunner to squash)

Very unsatisfying , a pub resting on its laurals. Very good a few years back, but seems to be suffering from lost of interest and complacency, a shame. Few good staff struggle to maintain some standard of the past. Garden rather neglected, too many cig butts, and that's from a smoker! Lets please get back to the standard of past years.

My self and my family went for dinner on Sunday evening, a warm welcoming on arrival set the scene format lovely evening, for starters we all settled for the frois gras parfait ( very tough choice) which was incredible! And for mains I had the burger which was equally as good, I really enjoyed the triple cooked chips which tasted amazing! My partner ha the stuffed rabbit leg with rissotto, which I did try and loved, the rest of the family had the pork and the duck breast which looked sublime! I can't say I tried it but judging by there plates they loved it! Lives up to previous reviews!!!

We met friends here for lunch attracted by its 'Somerset Dining Pub of the Year' accolade from the Good Pub Guide. Salads for the ladies and fish & chips for the men were all particularly good, as were the desserts and award winning local beers. In good weather we were able to enjoy all this in the colourful cottagey garden. Inside looked attractive too with sturdy tables and chairs that looked as though they might have been there for a hundred years or more. A really good choice!

En route to Cornwall, we made a very good decision last night to take a detour to Hinton St George and stopped at the Lord Poulett Arms. Absolutely stunning historic building in gorgeous Somerset village. Three main courses plus drinks was £50 and good value at that. Somerset burgers were good, but should have been served hotter. Mushroom risotto pronounced excellent by my wife. Our dog was allowed in which made us happy. Really enjoyed our visit and will return. My recommendation is to book by phone in advance as this is a very special inn and popular with locals.

Called in Saturday lunchtime for drinks with intention to book table for 2 for special occasion that evening.Disappointed to be told fully booked.Nice olde worlde pub but presume " locals" looked down their noses at us and bar staff seemed too busy for conversation so overall not welcoming.
Food we did see served on platters didnt look anything special but a little overpriced when we checked the menu.Overall felt many pubs in Worcestershire superior to this "dining pub of the year" in comparison.
