Great place to visit, café terrible.
The cake sizes were tiny, the Thai food watery and bland, other things we bought were very poor quality - but its not cheap.
Service was shambolic - unprofessional.More

I stayed here with a couple of friends, one of whom was disabled.
The staff were wonderful and could'nt have done more to make us welcome and our stay comfortable.
There is a special room for disabled people which was perfect, and access to the cafe was possible without having to negotiate steps.
The food served was delicious, in the well named cafe "Love in a Cup" and we also appreciated the residents kitchen out of hours.
Great care and attention to detail was apparent everywhere and there was a lovely peaceful ambience throughout. We will certainly be back!
I visited The Lighthouse restaurant, Love in a Cup, for lunch with some relatives who were visiting. We sat down then waited a long time for the waitress to greet us and take our order, although no one else was in the restaurant. We gave our order for food then our drinks but were dismayed to hear organic milk was not available, only soya milk or coconut milk. We requested ordinary milk as none of us is dairy free, but it is not available. We therefore left as we were very disappointed. The choice of food and drinks at The Lighthouse is confusing. The drinks are all caffeine and dairy free, yet they offer sausages with no mention of whether the meat if organic and free range. I would have thought a restaurant that used sausages, with their dubious meat content, would have offered organic milk! Very strange, we will not be visiting again or recommending. The management seem confused as to what they are trying to offer - either provide for a range of diets or do it fully and be vegetarian.
Love in a Cup is advertised on our website and menus as 100% dairy and gluten free. We do not specialize in vegetarian, vegan or organic food as such, although we like to include these options in our menu so that we cater for everyone.
The ingredients we use are to a high standard and quality, with a nutritional focus. We select ingredients that help to promote health and vitality – using lots of fresh herbs, spices, sea vegetables, fresh meat, high quality fish and vegetables; keeping away from alcohol, trans fats, yeast, high carbs, refined sugar and processed flours. We use natural sweeteners like agave and coconut sugar, highly nutritional flour substitutes such as almond flour, olive oil in our cooking and we have avoided high carbs such as rice and potatoes.
All of our meat is from local and reputable suppliers we trust - Cayfords family butchers in Frome and Jon Thorners in Shepton Mallet. Our sausages are from the Black Farmer range, which we have found to be the tastiest Gluten Free range available on the market. Our fish is from Harts Natural Seafoods, often arriving fresh to our door having being caught that morning.
Healthy can sometimes mean expensive so we always endeavor to keep our prices very reasonable. We avoid hidden sugars so that what the customer gets is a wholesome meal not loaded with hidden extras that are difficult to digest. For example, we only source soft drinks that have no extra sugar added; they are all naturally sweetened and our fruit juices are not from concentrate.
Being a teahouse, we have our own herbalist Fiona, who blends our unique range of Artisan loose-leaf teas, bringing nutritional benefits and great flavours for our guests to explore. We only serve decaffeinated coffee using soya, almond or coconut milk as we are aware that the affects of caffeine have a detrimental effect on the body; providing a jolt to the central nervous system.
Love in a Cup is a place where guests are welcome to relax and unwind and soak up the beautiful surroundings. Our constant aim is to promote health and well being, supporting all of our customers with wholesome, nutritional food and refreshments in surroundings that support their sense of wellbeing.
I found my stay at The Lighthouse to be so rejuvenating - to say the least. After having a session with one of the practitioners in residence there I came back to the Library and the warmth of the open log fire and enjoy a loving pot of tea and the comfort of the large lounge. The staff are so loving, the service is first class and the food served in there little cafe called "The Love In a Cup" is so yummy and all Gluten & Dairy Free - yay. The surrounding countryside is magnificent and there is an amazing lake to take a stroll around. I am very much looking forward to my next stay there.
I come here often, to swim, and to the cafe, and to walk in the grounds. The food and staff are lovely, all is beautifully presented and clean. They cater well for dairy and gluten free diets, which is almost unheard of elsewhere, and food is presented with care. Its a beautiful location, peaceful, quiet, really wholesome.
The only complaint i have is that the driveway in and out of this place is ABSOLUTELY AWFUL! Like, the potholes wreck your tyres bad. It never seems to get mended effectively, which is such a shame because it puts you off coming, because when you get in, its great, its the getting in that's the problem!!
Decided to have a break in the country so booked one night at The Lighthouse and was extremely pleasantly surprised at the beautiful surrounding countryside and the lovely, eager to help staff, my room was cosy and beautifully decorated and the bed was extremely comfortable, I had a great night sleep and breakfast in the morning was to die for. I really cannot think of a single bad word to say about it.
