“Wines to die for!”
Reviewed August 8, 2014

A great find. From the plaques on the wall, this place regularly wins "wine pub of the year" and it is clear why. There is a wonderful restaurant with great food and a varied menu. There is also a pub/bar area with real ale straight from the cask and the truly massive wine list is also available in the bar. Last time we had a meal but this time only had time for a drink. We were amazed as we asked if we could buy our favourite wine from the list by the glass and they said yes! This was not a cheap wine but they just opened a new bottle and charged a really fair price for the amount we had. Fabulous!

“Great place”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

Myself and 4 friends were booked in a restaurant in Bampton but got a call the day before to say they were closed on Tuesdays. Well we were the winners as went along to Woods instead. A warm welcome friendly atmosphere, good wine and food. Well worth a visit. Looking forward to returning.

“Not as enjoyable as usual”
Reviewed August 5, 2014

I love this place but someone was having an off day. Went here last night and I have to say the wine was lovely, great recommendations. My husband had the soup, If you had asked me what it was I could not have told you from the taste alone, it was very bland not great. I have goats cheese salad with beetroot and it was fantastic have this everytime I go. We both had the lamb, it was loin and shoulder very tender but cold, with smooth mash also cold sauce also cold, broccoli was very had just needed to be another min I love it al dente but this not too hard. what a shame to what could be a wonderful dish. This will not put us off will go back just in case.

“Very pretty bar”
Reviewed August 4, 2014

We called the Woods for a drink and we received a great welcome almost as if we were locals, it was clearly a locals bar and sometimes you feel like an intruder, but not here everyone spoke and made a great fuss of our Yorkie, one guy who hadn't got a dog just pulled some gravy bones (Dog treats) out of his pocket and fed the diva dog. I wish we hadn't already eaten because the menu looked fantastic
