Travelled to Rainsbury House for a get together with a number of friends during a lovely hot spell in June, and we couldn't have had a nicer time. The owners have made a beautiful job of the refurbishment works, the cottages are lovely and the welcome couldn't be faulted.
Added to that is the fact that the location is really gorgeous.
Can't wait to go back.

“Absolutely wonderful !”

We spent a wonderful week here at the end of August. The Barn has been beautifully refurbished and is very comfortable indeed, so much so that we sometimes found it hard to make ourselves leave it to go out! The owners live on site in the main house and are helpful and friendly. On arrival we found the table set for afternoon tea, complete with a home made cake.

There are some lovely walks on the doorstep, and many beautiful places and things to do within easy driving distance. Our favourite days out were to Watersmeet, Porlock , Dunkery Beacon, and Dunster. Evenings were spent in the drawing room in front of the woodburner.

Our stay was during the summer but I think the house would also be lovely during the winter, and we look forward to our next stay.

“Superb accommodation in beautiful location”

We've just returned from a fantastic week in Barn Owl Cottage. The cottage is beautifully set in a fairly isolated part of Exmoor with good walks straight from the front door. Other attractions - including Wimbleball Lake Activity centre - are with easy reach by car. We'd also recommend cycling on the Grand Western Canal which was flat and traffic free.

The recently and thoughtfully refurbished accommodation is of a very high standard with tasteful decoration and good quality fittings. The kitchen is well equipped and the bathrooms exceptional for a holiday let.

Terry, the owner, was friendly and helpful without being intrusive. We really appreciated the extra touches, like milk for tea on arrival and the offer to unpack our shopping. Thanks also for the delicious birthday cake and the boys really liked their go on the quad bike.

We'd highly recommend this site and hope to return.

“What a welcome, what a place”

What a fantastic place to stay, took the girls (7&9) and the grandparents (old&older) without exception we all loved it. Mostly helped by the resident black Lab called Raffy - I have two heart broken girls and devastated parents having to leave the dog behind when we left!

Terry couldn't of been more welcoming, nothing was too much, bed layout, towels, and even the food delivery unpacking service is going beyond. Recently refurbished, this can only be a success with that level of service (even in prep before you arrive)

The accommodation was just perfect for us - the sitting room has two massive doors that open up to a generous private garden (if the weathers worth a look), spacious bedrooms and just a great feeling, very we'll equipped and not cluttered. Spotlessly clean, freshly decorated with new bedding.

Location was perfect for the lake and activities (although book before you arrive in the season), i recommend a day trip to Lyton/Lynmouth and spend as much time as you can on Exmoor - beautiful all year round. Loads of great food in the local pubs

“A great place for New Year”

Our group of friends were in need of a new venue for our annual get-together after Christmas. We were lucky to find Rainsbury House, with its charm and it's excellent facilities. We had a wonderful time and felt welcomed by the Brownbills. We are hoping to be able to return for another New Year. We certainly intend to go back next summer to sample some of the delights listed on the website.

“Blissful relaxation in a glorious location.”

We were looking for a week away from the rat race and we found it here at Rainsbury House. The recently refurbished Barn was beautifully appointed and the location on the edge of Exmoor was superb. The owners Angie and Terry welcomed us on arrival and ensured we were comfortable in our cottage. Lots of stunning walks and a very friendly local pub made our week. We will be back!
