Nearly drove past this pub and so glad we didn't. Staff very obliging. We didn't have a reservation but they accommodated us. Food was good and the place was very clean. Would definitely stop there again

Visited for lunch with friends and their grand-daughter of 3 years old. Very welcoming young ladies serving at the bar, nothing too much trouble. Food very good - sandwiches of the old fashioned variety chunky and well filled, veggie crisps on side. Little child had a child`s menu choice this was well cooked and presented. Will be back.

Having stopped in this idyllic setting were pleased to learn food was being served. Looked through the menu that was unimaginative and quite expensive. Food took a long time to arrive and was seriously undercooked. The gammon steak was thick and not cooked through but the beef burger was raw on the muddle , was sent back, the staff were very apologetic and said they would cook it more , this they did and the same beef burger was returned cooked through but in pieces as it was the original one previously served under-cooked. £9.95 a lot to pay for a very ordinary burger and chips. The gammon steak was not returned but only a little was eaten as it was not cooked properly and very tough.
Needless to say we shall not return for food but as the setting is lovely may come back for a coffee or drink by the river. All in all, very disappointed.

I have written a review on this lovely venue before but felt impelled to raise a concern now that I have 5 minutes just to warn that if you have a family member or friend who is confined to a wheel chair then access to the toilets may be an issue. The venue were extremely accommodating in letting my family hold a wake there following my fathers funeral. The food and welcome were second to none. But I was very disappointed when a relative, who has MND and is therefore confined to a wheelchair, was unable to access any of the venues toilet facilities. The bar staff were very apologetic but this did very little to ease the situation for my family member who then had to travel a significant distance home (30+ miles) no doubt still in some discomfort. This cannot be correct and hope that the good people at the Anchor will review DDA access for wheelchair users. I accept this may not be an issue for all but it was a real issue for my family member.

A last minute visit to the area we called in for a coffee and were so impressed with what we saw, we booked for Sunday lunch the following day. Delicious meal, all freshly prepared and the service was excellent. The staff are friendly, helpful and all had a smile, nothing was too much trouble. We'll look at their accommodation when we visit this area again, it looked very good. Highly recommend this lovely Inn.

We visited the Anchors restaurant for my sisters birthday, mainly because it was close to where we were staying. We enjoyed the meal so much we decided to return later on in the week. The restaurant was much busier as it was a Friday, however the great food and lovely relaxed atmosphere were maintained. I chose the Haddock with crab bisque and garlic confit potato from the specials menu, which was divine. My husband had slow cooked Ham Hock which came in a huge pot crammed with scrummy ham and Autumn vegetables, which would honestly have fed us both. The food is locally sourced and freshly cooked, so don't expect fast food, relax, it's well worth the wait. Special mention to our server, Kyla, who spent ages talking to us about the restaurant and clearly enjoyed working there very much. Also thanks to Beth and Sandino who were the other servers that evening. Thanks to you all for a brilliant time.

My partner and I spent a relaxing weekend at the anchor inn. The landlord and landlady are extremely nice people they are friendly and welcoming without being pushy. The staff are all very helpful and make you feel at home. the food is fantastic ! I would recommend a stay here to anyone in the area, or if passing through take the time to stop and sample the food. You are truly missing out if you don't.
