“Very disappointing”
Reviewed September 16, 2012 via mobile

Having read about this place in Food & Drink Bristol and Bath we would have been better off reading the reviews here. We entered the cafe and stood waiting to be seated around the reserved tables but instead had to ask for help as we were ignored by 3 waiting staff. We were given a dirty wonky table which was cleaned as we sat at it, given a menu and left for 15 mins despite being seen to be waiting by the staff. My husband approached the till as we were unsure if it was table service and eventually we were served. We ordered the roast pork baguette and butternut squash soup. After 5 mins we were told that there was no apple sauce for the baguette and after another few mins told that there was no soup, disappointing for not even 1pm on a Sunday. We cancelled the food and left feeling quite let down by the surly waitress, inefficient waiter and lack of food available. We didn't seem to be the only disappointed diners.

“Perfect Portions”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

As me and my party of three were travelling from australia we required 3 things, a big breakfast within walking distance and for a reasonable price. Number 5 on the Beach delivered and exceeded our expectations!!! It took us a couple of days and some trail and error to discover the cafe but when we did we ate there religiously for the remaining 7 days of the trip. The breakfasts were delicious, the perfect setup to the site seeing days ahead and often kept us going till dinner.

“Turning Breakfast on in The Don”
Reviewed September 12, 2012

Scooting upon Number Five the Beach was a god send. Absolute ripper breakfast that kept us coming back day after day. Thats if we were up in time for breakfast. Went exploring through the menu but kept going back to the "Full English". Never has there been such a perfect amount of food on a plate cooked so well. Great mushrooms, beaut snags and loved the black pudding (a novelty for Australians). Great staff, helpful, good looking and who ever makes those cakes needs a special mention.

Loved It

Jimmy

Gero's Review
When the 3 travellers from Australia find themselves hungover, where do they go??? No Five the Beach for a top full english!!!
Staff were accommodating, friendly, attractive (very important especially special mention to Gracie and Annabella) and food portions were just right and cheaper than we would get back home!
I thoroughly enjoyed going every day down for breakast and will miss those mushrooms, snags and tomatoes! god they're goood!!!

“A New Seaside Favourite”
Reviewed September 5, 2012

An Outing for the Moles TO the seaside is not an uncommon event. But finding not just good food, but also excellent service and decent value for money AT the seaside certainly is. Sunday lunch at Five the Beach is not for those seeking a quiet repast. Children almost outnumber adults and the noise levels are significant. And, sadly, the standards of behaviour of small children (and their parents) are Not What They Were in Mole's Young Day. But throughout the noise and chaos, the staff continues to smile cheerfully and deliver not only impeccable service but also excellent food. How so much, so good, comes out of such a small kitchen is in itself a wonder. Everything, right down to pickles and chutneys, is fresh and nothing is too much trouble. (One of the smaller members of our party requested a jam baguette and chips - and got it!!) All of the grown up main courses were well balanced, beautifully cooked and presented and delivered in a timely manner. I'm told that, in the evenings and during the week, the standards are maintained and the restaurant can be an oasis of calm. Sounds great!! So, whether for a noisy Sunday lunch or a gentle evening, seek out this restaurant. It's a goodie!!
