“Great Hotel, Great Price, Great Location”

I booked this hotel last minute for one night because it was close enough for my early start in Bristol the next day. The accommodation and breakfast was first class in a really interesting hotel with great views. It's a shame that I couldn't have enjoyed the Best Western Walton Park Hotel more but I literally only slept there for one night. I had dinner that evening which was very enjoyable and full English breakfast the next morning which gave me a great start to my long day. On my next trip to the area I will certainly see if a room is available again.

Don't be fooled by the modern reception, this place is stuck in a timewarp, rooms are dated and dirty with exposed wiring , the corridors are no better and the communal areas need a good revamp (what's with the jumble sale cabinets as well?) Although it was a summer's evening my room had its windows closed and sealed up with paint and the radiators on full blast. Had something to eat in the evenig and plates / cutlery were dirty. When it came to checkout my card was charged for my room although I had paid in advance which was also slightly annoying although it was refunded when I challenged them. Staff did seem friendly though and the views are great.

The hotel is in a great location perched on the cliff top with wonderful views out across the Bristol Channel to South Wales. It is a Best Western with around 40 bedrooms on a quiet road. The rooms are spacious and clean. The food was very good and the service efficient.

Undoubtedly one of its best features is the view over the sea from the front bedrooms and from the hotel garden.

One quirky feature is a case full of mementos for sale, even including coronation mugs.

Room Tip: Make sure you have a sea view

Room was clean and spacious with lovely views.
Disappointed with food and one meal was removed from our bill after our complaint.
Don't expect anything up to date here. Even the bar bill had to be hand-written.
Reception staff were very helpful.

We have just got married at this hotel and feel compelled to let future couples who have booked this venue that if they have the same care and attention we had paid to us then they will have their best day ever. We had a really super day with close family and friends who mostly stayed at the hotel. The food was very good and could not fault the service. The staff especially Pat, Marie and Paddy made everything run smoothly and guided us all the way. Nothing was too much trouble and they made our day special. The hotel itself is Victorian and very quirky which we loved but if you want a bland travelodge type of hotel then stay in one! We take on board other reviews regarding tired interior and maybe a lick of paint here and there and new carpet will improve the place but please see past this and enjoy your stay.

Room Tip: We stayed in 411 which was lovely with a 4 poster comfy bed and views to die fo.r

We stayed here for one night after attending a wedding, the organisation of the wedding was good and the hotel did everything it could to help make it a great day.
The family room was a good size and four people fitted comfortably. The Bar area where we had a lunch snack was very traditional and the ladies were excellent & very helpful.
There are lots of 'nice' quirky parts to the Walton, such as the old fashioned lift, gardens, food servery, creaky floor boards and it is a beautiful old building.
Parts of the hotel do really need a bit of love & attention, but as previous advisors have suggested.. it could be a great place.
We would stay here again and i wouldn't put anyone off....our only real gripe was the breakfast which would be greatly improved by using better produce (local) and not deep frying the mushrooms?

Wheel access not for all floors.

We stayed with our group of twelve people, mostly retired, for four nights while we toured
the local area.

This imposing hotel stands in its own grounds in a quiet area positioned high up alongside the Bristol Channel with fine views at the back looking towards the Welsh coast. It has its own car park which can become full on occasions.

The reception rooms and bedrooms are spacious but dowdy. Our bedroom was at the
rear of the hotel with a fine view and contained one very comfortable double bed and two single beds.

The bathroom also was large but unfortunately very badly planned. It contained a
shower but no bath, a small wash basin but absolutely nowhere to put anything, no
shelves, no coat hooks, nothing except a miniscule glass shelf above the basin not even
big enough to take a toilet bag. Our friends all said their bathrooms were the same.
The towels were replaced every day.

The English breakfast was acceptable with a good buffet choice. We had an evening
meal on our first night, an experience we had no wish to repeat. The lamb chops were
cooked to a cinder and were really inedible.

It is a pity that the management have not addressed these matters as basically the hotel is sound and with a some attention could easily be improved. At the moment, staying at
the hotel is like stepping back 30 years.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the rear of the hotel to get good views
